***** Item is SOLD. Yipee! Thanks for looking. May have another one soon as I just happend to come by another T23 at a YARD SALE believe it or not, and it too has 2 x 512MB RAM. So if it tests out I'll have more RAM should anyone need it. It must have been Divine intervention as I NEVER stop at yard sales, but what a deal it was. *****

I've sold my trusty T23 to a friend's daughter. She has no need for 1GB of RAM so I'm making available the extra 512MB stick I put in about 2 years ago to boost performance. It made a HUGE difference, has always worked flawlessly and passed any test run. I remember paying about $250 for this stick, and for some reason RAM for this model is still dear. In fact, when doing some homework to price it I was only able to find 512MB for T23's through Kingston and nowhere else, though others might exist if I had more time to play. My usual sources for RAM maxed out at 256MB sticks for a T23. The best price on that Kingston RAM for 512MB is still $175 - $200.

I am asking $50 (firm) + $5 shipping and will deliver to any Mainland US location in an anti-static bag and fully insured. Shipping to other locations will depend on my cost.

Here are the details off the IBM Approval sticker on the RAM:

RAM stick is 8 banks of 64MB each = 512MB

I don't know if this is compatible with any other model besides a T23 (2647-xxx or 2648-xxx), so if you purchase this for something else please do your homework as I cannot be responsible, though I will respond to requests for more information if I can help.

IBM-branded pulls going for $85 & up on eBay, nothing sold for over $100.

Wow! Thanks for the input, but I didn't see any "IBM pulls" over at eBay today, just off-brand stuff I've never heard of (KTI?). I was trying to compare quality with quality, that's why I was searching for pricing on the well known names and their reputable sources. I still want to know, and my search was limited to "512MB RAM T23", so please PM me with links if I'm wrong and I'll be "Crazy Yak" and go lower and lower and lower 'cause all I want to do is get this to someone who needs it at a fair price (or I'll just give it to the little girl who DON'T need it if this gets too complicated and she'll have 1GB of RAM in her T23 for her demanding AOL Instant Messenger sessions!). However, because of your reply I DID update the price to $50 thinking someone would rather buy a sure thing that was originally bought from IBM, and labeled IBM for an IBM laptop, instead of memory that even the auctions over there are stating, "compatability is not guaranteed". But that's only MY way of thinking. They also have the same RAM labeled for MANY different IBM models. Hmmm? OK. Maybe that's why they have the warning!? There are lots of folks that buy only to save a buck (and that's ALL that figures into their decision). I'm not that old but I remember the great Yugo boom about 25 years ago (and the great Yugo bust 24½ years ago)! That was the all-time example of incompatible parts. Yep, those folks saved a bunch of cash. Hey, who knew selling could be this much fun!

Seriously though, thanks for bringing it to my attention! I asked for folks to do just that because I only want to be fair.

Hi, BP, the pulls weren't ID's as IBM as such, but some of the pix had an IBM sticker on the RAM, I searched T23 512MB, and looked at the completed auctions, sorted lowest price first (that's how I usually determine what the sweet spot for bidding is).

Good luck, only wanted to give you a data point to work with.

Thanks Nolonemo! I DID appreciate the input even if it's not "apples to apples" so to say. My first reply was meant as a humorous release so I apologise if it was taken otherwise. See, I only clean out my closet at that "other" place if I have something that don't sell through reputable sources or that I'm not too proud (or sure) of, so competing with sellers there was never my intention. I don't like their "CYA" way of selling. But I can compete if necessary, even to to sell something nice that needs no disclaimers.

I lowered the price in my original post to $50 so that I can move this before the laptop is delivered this weekend and if someone wants it for less they are welcome to make an offer. I'll be listing the battery here today too, but it hadn't been used it since purchase a few months ago and I wanted to confirm it WAS the new one (shows 1 cycle and 1st use of 04/05 so I think I found the right one!).
