WTB - Thinkpad T410 or T420
Looking for an inexpensive T410 or T420 to replace my old Macbook. I don't need a barn-burner of a notebook, but I would prefer the computer to have the following:
HD+ screen
Lenovo Warranty
Windows 7
Webcam
Hard drive size doesn't matter to me, and neither does CPU speed. As long as it works.
So if anyone out there has a T410 or T420 lying around they'd like to pass on to a good home, let me know what you've got and we'll talk money. I'll even pay shipping with a pre-paid FedEx label. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!!

I have a T420 but it only has a base HD screen (1366x768). If you're still interested, I can PM you the details.

That's really nice of you to offer, but I think I'm going to stay on the lookout for a 1600x900 screen. I write for a living, and the crispness of Lenovo's HD+ screen keeps my tired eyes cranking the words out. But thanks for the offer. Really appreciate it!I have a T420 but it only has a base HD screen (1366x768). If you're still interested, I can PM you the details.

That T420 looks nice, but has no webcam or discrete graphics. I may have a T410 for you, it has all the good options, I5, 8gb, 320gb hdd, web cam, nVidia graphics, Lenovo onsite warranty with several months left and thinkpad protection for accidental damage. It also has the more desireable 16:10 aspect ratio screen and the best option which is 1440x900 (led backlight), the 1600x900 is only available in the 16:9 ratio and only on the T420.
It will come with a copy of a win7 pro restore disc and I'll probably be listing it in a week or two when I've had time to go over it, or you can PM me if you want to discuss it now.

Ah, I didn't see that the OP needed a webcam.
I don't think he listed discrete graphics though, and the HD 4000 is more than sufficient for most uses (even for running games from a year or two ago). Given the drawbacks of Optimus and the additional cost, he might want to consider models with the Intel GPU instead...

^^^ AFAIK, only T430 models with Ivy Bridge have HD 4000. T420 are based on Sandy Bridge and are likely to have either HD 2000 or HD 3000.

Re: WTB - Thinkpad T410 or T420
Thanks for all the interaction guys. I appreciate it. With my first child on the way, I definitely want a webcam so I can stay in touch with my family should I have to travel for a job (I'm a freelance writer.) As for the graphics engine, it doesn't matter to me. Integrated graphics is fine. All I care about is getting MS Word up and running, and occasionally loading Photoshop for some quick photo editing. And of course, browsing the web. Not a big power user here. But if need be, eventually I can throw in more memory and an SSD and be good to go for years to come.Ah, I didn't see that the OP needed a webcam.

I've been watching eBay, and there are a few interesting deals to be had. Plus, a guy down the street from me wants to sell me his X200s for $190, but it doesn't have a webcam. So long story short, I'm still on the hunt for a Thinkpad. eBay has quite a few parts machines for sale, so I may jump on one of those and bring it back to life. I used to be a tech in a previous life, so repairing a Thinkpad is not beyond my capabilities. But we'll see. I'm pretty much just playing the waiting game here to see what comes my way.
Thanks again for all your help.

Argh. Yeah, I typod that. It'd be an HD 3000 (still very capable, but different than the 4000).Cigarguy wrote:^^^ AFAIK, only T430 models with Ivy Bridge have HD 4000. T420 are based on Sandy Bridge and are likely to have either HD 2000 or HD 3000.

Re: WTB - Thinkpad T410 or T420 or T500 (Amended)
NOTICE: I've amended my search to include a T500 with WSXGA+ screen and preferably, the P9400 CPU. RAM size doesn't matter; neither does HD size. I can add those myself. There are a ton of T500s on eBay, but for now, I'd like to keep my buying preferences to this forum. Got a T500, let me know. Thanks!
Re: WTB - Thinkpad T410 or T420
I have a T410 model 2518-f5u. I think the warranty expires in May. From Lenovo support page:
i5-540M(2.53GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 256MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS3100m, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn+802.16e WiMAX, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, FPR, Camera, 9c Li-Ion, Win7 Pro 32
Let me know if this is what you looking for and we can talk. I am planning to replace this computer in within 30 days, as soon as I can get a replacement.

As a slightly more expensive but portable option I can sell you my T420s. It has all the goodies including 8GB RAM, SSD and that 1600x900 you're looking for. It's located here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=109123

Re: WTB - Thinkpad T410 or T420
I have a fully loaded T420s (Core i7, 8GB, 160GB SSD, HD+, Webcam, NVIDIA, warranty through 2014 or 2015, need to confirm) that I am about to list for sale (my new laptop will be arriving tomorrow). If that interests you, please send me a PM. I'll be posting it up here soon.
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...
