Any chance to get one of those boards in 2017?TuuS wrote:Coming soon, the elusive 42w7874 T61p board 14.1" standard screen with fx570m graphics and native Penryn CPU support.
Yes, I can get them, but it will cost more and it won't have the revised gpu chip on it. If you want one you can send me a personal message. It will take some time to locate a laptop as a source and 7 days of testing to assure there are no pre-existing issues with the gpu, but IMO it would be best to go with the NVS140m boards listed here, they are the likely the only NOS boards left on the planet which were built for IBM to service their corporate customers, unlike Lenovo who simply removed boards from returning leased equipment and reissued them with the older poorly designed gpu chips. If the performance difference is what concerns you, then I'll offer this, and first understand there are many vastly different opinions about this, and benchmark testing often doesn't equal real world performance, rather just how many "non-ops" a computer can do in a given time, but in tests that measure actual performance in real world measurements the fx570m tests approximately 30% faster in 3D graphics, but it's been confirmed from multiple sources that the NVS140m can be overclocked safely to 70%, so if that performance is important to you, then you can overclock the gpu. It's widely believed and with substantial evidence that these chips are an underclocked version of the Gforce chip, being slowed down so there is less chance of errors to be used on business apps as opposed to gaming, where small graphic errors don't really affect the gameplay. I don't do much gaming so don't overclock mine, but if you do, be sure to monitor the temps. Overall, considering these boards are now selling for upto half what they sold for about a year ago they make a lot of sense, but if you want the fastest gpu, send me a PM and we can discuss it.fourthree wrote:Any chance to get one of those boards in 2017?TuuS wrote:Coming soon, the elusive 42w7874 T61p board 14.1" standard screen with fx570m graphics and native Penryn CPU support.
Thank you for the feedback Jokerjoker4791 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2017 9:39 amDear TuuS,
also a get back well soon from my side!
Just for information, I have received one of the 44C3926 T61p boards for 14in 4:3 w/ nVidia FX570m in Jan. 2015 and it is still running nicely every day for 8+ hours, also doing CAD works. Besides I have done the quad core mod on this board and it's very powerful with the QX9300 CPU and 8 gigs of RAM.
So, also from my side: a clear recommendation for TuuS' parts !
Best Regards,
j.
