SOLD: 2x T420S machines in excellent condition w/options!
I received another T420s in excellent condition! Because of that I will have to do a reshuffle of parts and pieces between the two systems. This one is also for sale with following specs:
System 1:
1. Intel Core i5-2540M 2.6GHz processor with turbo boost
2. 8GB DDR3 RAM
3. 160GB Intel G2 SSD
4. DVDRW/CDRW drive
5. bluetooth, webcam, USB 3.0, SD slot
6. 1600x900 14in LED backlit screen w/ Intel HD3000
7. excellent battery + 90W power supply
8. Lenovo warranty until 8/2014!
The machine looks and runs like new. It's been in light use since summer of last year. Has an upgraded i5 CPU and warranty to boot! Looking for $630 shipped in continental USA. I will consider reasonable offers. Pics can be provided upon request.
System 2:
This one was bought new in June of 2011. The machine is in like-new cosmetic condition, everything works and no problems whatsoever. Battery is in good shape with only 12 cycles on it. Vast majority of the time I used it as an HTPC sitting on a docking station (not included). It left the house literally maybe a dozen times if that. Since I used it with a remote all of the controls have essentially no wear and look like new. Specs:
1. Intel Core i5-2520M 2.5GHz processor with turbo boost
2. 6GB RAM (4+2GB)
3. original 250GB 5400rpm disk (SSD optional)
4. DVDRW/CDRW drive
5. bluetooth, webcam, fingerprint reader, USB 3.0, SD slot
6. 1600x900 14in LED backlit screen w/ Intel HD3000
7. excellent battery + 65W power supply
8. original box + documentation
Warranty has expired last year but it's been running just fine since then. Apparently it qualifies for extended warranty if new owner wants to purchase it from Lenovo. Looking for $530 shipped in continental USA. I will consider reasonable offers. Pics can be provided upon request.
Options for second system:
1. 128GB Samsung SSD (with Lenovo part numbers) add $70
2. if you can live with 4GB RAM (2x2GB) subtract $10

Re: FS: T420s i5/8GB/160SSD
Curious.
Does this go up to 16 GB?
Can you do this - RAM, - HDD, - SSD. Have tons of those.
Date or purchase? Warranty remaining? Usage?

Yes, I can attest that this machine supports 16GB of RAM. And no, I do not want to sell it as a barebone as I don't have much use for the extra components. As for the rest your questions please read the ad carefully. All the answers are right there.crashnburn wrote:Curious.

I have a 256G SSD and enough 320 G HDDs and the only reason to buy this would be 2 x 8 = 16G RAM for running VMs.synchromesh wrote:Yes, I can attest that this machine supports 16GB of RAM. Even if not barebones, your upgrades (8G, 160G) are of no use to me. You can sell off your upgrades by yourself - I am guessing selling them separately you might come out with more $$.
Let me know if you are willing to look at the original config or alternate pricing.

1) Between not reading his OP in the first place and the attitude displayed here, you aren't conducting yourself very well here IMO.crashnburn wrote:I have a 256G SSD and enough 320 G HDDs and the only reason to buy this would be 2 x 8 = 16G RAM for running VMs.

2) Read the rules.
9. In general, price negotiation should be done through direct communication (PM or email etc) between buyer and seller, not in posted messages.
10. Malicious attacking message over offer descriptions or pricing, and pointless price low-balling, serves no useful purpose. It will be regarded as trolling behaviour and handled by the Moderators as such (see the Rules of this Road message).
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...

Re: FS: T420s i5/8GB/160SSD
- Apologies. Usually done over PM, but somehow my Message Box was full at the time (I am clearing it as we speak). In fact had some extensive PMs with Ajkula - George.9. In general, price negotiation should be done through direct communication (PM or email etc) between buyer and seller, not in posted messages.

- You can ask ajkula of my conduct on the extensive PM discussions I've had with him regarding a fateful X61T that never got concluded.
- I've been working late hours on varying time zones. So apologies for missing out. Since we do not have a standard format or template by which people post PRICE, DATE, WARRANT etc sometimes its not an easy quick scan. Maybe that would be a suggestion to Bill. - A lot of times the asking price is stuck in some spot inside the text. Maybe PRICE and a few standard items should be put at a prominent place at bottom/ top.fbrdphreak wrote: 1) Between not reading his OP in the first place and the attitude displayed here, you aren't conducting yourself very well here IMO.

- Thank you. As I said, it was nothing malicious or intentional. Tone is not easily conveyed over Text.
Since synchromesh said he had no need to keep the spare parts, I mentioned my motivation for purchase and that I had no need for them and would not be interested in them due to my usage scenario. Since it has not sold I figured I should share my motivations.
(Of course, all this should have been over PM - Since the OP responded here it did not occur to me to move to PM and my PMs were also full)
