I took a close look at the HMM for the T400 BEFORE digging in to a fan replacement. I have done something similar, but a while ago and on a simpler unit.
Therefore, I've decided it would be better to sell this one and upgrade the wife to perhaps a T410 or T420.
The unit for sale is a Lenovo T400, Type 6475-GD1 with NO Hard Drive, caddy or door, but a CD_RW/DVD and good extended length battery [only 56 cycles]. There is 2GB RAM and a clean keyboard and fine display.
The unit has been primarily used in a port replicator for about the last two years. It does have the above mentioned fan error and only loads intermittently. When it does load, all seems normal, but I don't hear the fan (although I never heard the fan in the past anyway). Wondering if all the time in the dock hindered heat dissipation?
So, it is up for sale. Hopefully someone with more expertise [and younger eyes] can correct the fan problem.
I'd like to get $100.00 plus $15.00 for the USPS Flat Rate box to any US ZIP Code.
If you need more info, want me to try some photos, or to make an offer, let me know at rrhody@yahoo.com.
If a hard drive or AC Adapter is needed, that's negotiable.
