Can be X61s with the IPS(AFFS) mod, X201s with an IPS mod, or X220with IPS.
Not very keen on the X200s as it is not much different from X61s in term of power, while not as good form factor as the X61s (i saw some post here about such a X200s). X201s would be better, but didnt see much IPS moded one.

X220 can be ok too.

X230 is out of my budget i guess, and i dont like the keys missing (but a 7row moded could be ok).

price will depend on the thinkpad of course

Last, I am in france, but UPS or the like is fine.

thanks!

True, but it's definitely over 1.5kg even with the small battery...

It's pretty close... 1.71kg and I'm not sure if that is with or without the ultrabase, but probably not.

I don't think the 200/201S can be modded with IPS, only the plain X200 / X201. But the good news is those do come in just under 1.5Kg with the 6-cell battery (less with the 4-cell). Good luck with it - I have an X200 I modded myself and love it (but may want to upgrade to X201).

well, i found some X200s moded in this very forum :).

also, it is written that to mode a X201s, you need to change quite a bit of things (basaically retrofit a screen besel from a X200 to a X201s but it is doable, although i dont know if it has been done).

gg to buy a second hand ASUS UX31A actually for my wife (if for me, i would not buy it). Was looking for a X230 IPS too as they are quite light, but was hard to get hold of a IPS screen...
