WTB: Cheap thinkpad

#1 Post by Peptate » Sun Aug 18, 2013 11:38 am

I'm looking to purchase a cheap thinkpad for a buddy who just recently spilled water on his. (We're college students, him recently lost his job) Please PM me with what you have and how much you're looking for.

May be also interested in a PATA SSD or SATA modded T43 for myself.

I'm new on this forum, but well known on POTN (photography-on-the.net) with over $25k in sales and trades if you're a member there.

Thanks!

It would help if you give us some more info:
-screensize and resolution
-how much RAM
-HD-size
-CD/DVD type
-OS
-budget
-where to ship to
I have X31, X41T, X61s, T23, T40p, R52, R60, T60, T60p, T61, T400, T410, R500, 3000-C200, 3000-N200, SL510 and others for sale.

I also have a T43 that I could SATA-mod for you.
PM me if interested.

He used to have a T400, so I'd like to give him something roughly in the T60 performance range. I have accumulated quite a bit of spare DIMMS and HDDs over the years, so that isn't quite an issue and I'm quite flexible on that. Will be loading Linux to save on OS costs. CD/DVD types are not important. Screen size again is not important.

My budget ~$100. I'd like not to exceed it if possible. I also have a couple of spare keyboards for the T60 as well, so parts machines with working mobos are more then welcome!

I am located in Iowa. Specifics on location can be discussed through PM.

Edit: Just spoke with him. We will be re-using the hard drive from the T400, so one is not needed.

Thanks.
