FS: x41 notebook & ultrabase - $60 **Picture Warning**

Hello,
I have a Type 2525-3cu x41 laptop for sale.

It is $60 shipped within USA only because it does not come with a hard drive or operating system, has a chip on the rear lid by the hinge, and only reliably charges through ultrabase.

I used this computer for 4 years, so it has signs of wear and tear on the outside and the keyboard. There is also a rub mark on the monitor, but it does not affect the usage (see white background picture, top left).

I used a compact flash card for my hard drive, and I am including the adapter in the computer. Add your own CF card, format, install your OS & drivers and you are ready to go. You will get BIOS error 2010 when starting up, but this is easily bypassed by pressing escape when first booting the machine.

x41 chassis and operating parts (minus hard drive)
Ultrabase with IBM DVD drive (works)
Power cable
3 batteries
Battery 1- IBM 8 cell. 65% of design charge, 155 cycles. Full charge = 42.38Wh of 64.8Wh design
Battery 2- IBM 4 cell. 67% of design charge, 42 cycles. Full charge = 18.38Wh of 27.36Wh design
Battery3- IBM 8 cell. Machine indicastes 50% capacity, but I believe it will need to be rebuilt or replaced. It does not hold a charge.

Is plastics damage near the hinge standard issue on these? Mine has the same crack, as does two other X41s I know of.


The shipping kills the deal for me, but good luck with the sale.

ARE YOU OPEN TO A SQUARE TRADE??? I have an X21 running XP Pro, which I will trade you even (disregarding shipping) for your X41. you can keep the SD card. I just bought a 128GB SSD on Amazon and put it in my X21, and it's still too slow. The X21 includes an BRAND NEW (amazon.com) upgraded 8x dual layer DVD-CD R/W optical drive in the dock and the 3.5" floppy. IT WILL COME WITH a 27GB Hitachi HD (works) in the drive bay (2.5")-- i'm keeping the 1.8" SSD for use in YOUR old machine.

I'M LOOKING FOR RAM AND PROCESSOR. You're probably looking for something less damaged...my X21 comes with a Belkin B/G/N wireless card in the PCMCIA slot, you ship yours with the intel b/g adapter, OK? Both units come with bases and CPUS, right? right.

My X21-2552 is in pretty much MINT shape. XP pro runs reasonably off SSD so shouldn't be too balky off SD card...BUT I'M LOOKING FOR (RELATIVE) RAM AND PROCESSOR POWER, compared to the 512MB and 700MHz P-III in my unit...you can adapt!!! if you don't want to trade just TRY to get money out of me, i'm on a fixed income!!!

The only problem with my unit is that you really have to push in the new optical drive door HARD and it hardly springs open...mechanical issue? don't know, just put it in and haven't even used it!!! i'm sure it works...it READS...

X21 accepts SD card and i've researched it and the Compact Flash slot supports PIO, DMA, and UDMA modes under XP PRO.

I'm going to send this now. I'll try to take some pictures later tonight and send them to you in a following post.

Forgot to mention that I smoke a lot in the computer room...unit will probably stink of smoke...it's not in the DVD yet though...anyway that'll probably kill the deal...pics revealed a dusty old X21 with super-glue near the DVD so you'd just as well write me off...get $60.00 for it!!! Besides there's no way an X21 will run Vista. Designed for 98/2000.
