Want to Buy: T40 Restore CDs
Hi - I am looking for an inexpensive set of T40 recovery disks to restore me to factory settings. The specifics of my machine are:
IBM Type 1875-D6U
S/N L3-A0723
Product ID 1875D6U
XP Professional
Thanks!

Thanks for you reply and the information. I would have never known. What is strange is that it says T40 right on the lower right hand side of the screen. I assume that you are referring to some sort of product chart somewhere.
Thanks again,
Chris

Since the system was obviously tampered with at some point, press F1 to enter BIOS on initial boot and report the first 7 characters of the system serial number back...

If you have a T40 machine, which it does not sound like you do, you can get restore media for free in this thread --> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=94279
(check the posts towards end of thread)
If you have a T43 machine, the above linked restore discs will not work, but there are some here for sale --> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=109633

Hi all:
Thanks very much for the replies. When pressing F1 and going into the Bios the System-unit Serial Number is: 1875D6UL3A0723.

Re: Want to Buy: T40 Restore CDs
Have you found the disks or downloads? I'm breaking up my T43 collection and have the disks plus items like a plastic bezel for the empty drive and spare docking station/power cord. If any of the above is useful, pls send an email - wallacedAT-bu.edu -- basically just cost of shipping.
