I had a 15" T42p which worked great. It was a 15" UXGA flexview with the screen in excellent condition. I then replaced the motherboard with a T43 motherboard with an ATI X300 with a 2GHz Dothan CPU and performed a SATA modification. The clearplate, however, still reads T42p. I did this swap primarily to allow SATA drives and to let Windows 7 work with full graphical acceleration.
I believe my only SATA drive is failing, so I can't really use this computer much. Specifically, the machine falls into spells of being very slow for a few moments, while it is otherwise snappy and responsive. It may be some problem with the SATA mod, I really do not know. I do not feel like working on this. As a result no hard drive will be included, but any normal 2.5" SATA drive may be installed with the included drive caddy.
The machine has 2 x 512MB RAM modules, a 2HGz Dothan CPU, and a 2200BG 802.11 card. The battery's run-time is unknown, but it does hold a charge. An OEM charger is included. The DVD drive works.
I would take $90 for it + shipping in the US. Keep in mind you are getting a machine that is in great physical shape and if you were to fix the SATA situation or replace the motherboard you would have a great computer. The keyboard has almost no shine except for a tiny spot on the spacebar, and the trackpoint nib looks new.

Interesting. What condition is the LCD in? Any scratches, dark spots, dead pixels?

Re: FS: 15" UXGA T42p / T43 frankenpad with SATA mod
Other than a little typical extra brightness towards the bottom near the task bar, the LCD I would say is the best UXGA flexview I have ever seen. No yellowing at the edges, no spots, dead pixels or scratches. When I am home later I will take a closer look, but I got this one because its LCD was in good shape.ajkula66 wrote:Interesting.
