WTB: Thinkpad W700ds, W701ds
Hello! I've been eyeing ebay for the longest time for one of these machines... and every time I've bitten on one, it's always evaded my grasp. I understand most on here who have these machines won't be as inclined to let one go, but I wanted to pitch this out to ask-does anyone have a W700ds or W701ds they can spare?
I'll take anything-I can take a W700ds with a cruddy CPU or FX 2700M, I'll even take just the screen part of a W700ds if you happen to have just that. I'm also open to trades, I have a large variety of computer hardware & parts on hand, if you need something that I happen to have, we can work something out.
I will be getting my financial aid soon for school-so if you want a good price for yours, I'll consider it. From the ebay auctions, it looks like a fully loaded W700ds goes for $1000-$1200 in good condition(AUCTION, not the Buy It Now entries that no one plucks) I'd appreciate a PM if you have one you can sell. Thanks!

Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...

Was it you that lost that bid against me on eBay this morning?
The seller must of not known there was a second screen... so I hope when it comes in the mail next week it'll be fine *crosses fingers*
My guess is that I would lose 50 bucks if I gotta send it back.

GOOD LORD MANWas it you that lost that bid against me on eBay this morning?![]()
Yes... but I've been chewing on three different auctions these past few months, with no success. I was trying a bit harder on this auction, but that was a really nice one... I was doubting I'd get it.
I looked at the pictures- it is a W700ds. None of the pictures show the second screen extended out, but in a couple you can tell this W700 has the "hump-back", and you can barely see the lip on the right side where it comes out. So yep-don't worry. Unless the guy is sending you a different unit than in the photos, you're going to get a loaded W700ds...
But, eh. I always look in the positives. I'll eventually find one that's right for me.

Re: WTB: Thinkpad W700ds, W701ds
Originally I had thought I might of lost the bid coz there was 15 seconds left after I bidded and I have been sniped by other buyers for a thinkpad before.
Don't worry I am envious of your thinkpad collection when i first started reading on tpf.
I saw the opportunity from this bid and had a frenzy.
Lost some sleep on it from being excited owning it.
It seems the price I paid for it was higher some other w700ds, seems like they have been popping out on eBay a bit more often.
You'll get one soon!

Indeed... no doubt I'll find one, especially with the lunatic spazz-tastic drive that I have to get one.
Barely over a grand for a W700DS? You know there's suckers somewhere buying these things for $3000, because of how unusual and rare they are. You and I may have been set to pay a lot of money... A grand is a lot, but it's still for probably one of the most amazing pieces of computer hardware you could ever own, ever. I'd say your slight money guilt and lack of sleep as a result of this thing will be instantly remedied when you get this thing in the mail.
Thanks for complimenting my collection btw... it's quite modest compared to some other members' collections.
