Hey guys,

I'm looking for some thinkpads and for the sake of not flooding the mp i will post them in one (quite long i know) thread so if anybody could know where i could find one or if somebody have one of them for sale just let me know

I'm looking for

- an A31p 2.0 uxga, the security chip, bluetooth and wifi, with the keypad and carrier would be even better but not required at that point.

- a T30 with the sxga+ screen, bluetooth wifi security chip fpr and touchpad, all of it, i'll be realistic on this one, i am open to a less powerful cpu (as it can be upgraded) and i can accept one that have the ram slot defect without bothering so much as repair doesn't seems to be so complicated with all the documentation available out there.

- a t43p, 2.26 uxga and same drill here on the addons

- a T61p 15.4 wuxga with the t9500 penryn 2.6 cpu, the security chip, bt, wifi, wireless usb and hdd cache you get the point

All of them must be authentic with the serial matching the specs, but i can take exception on hard drive size and ram maybe even a lesser still OEM optical drive choice as IBM/Lenovo does sometimes

Condition
they may not necessarily be mint, i dont mind age and normal wear. But if they are damaged, i will tend to negociate only if all other criterias are good and the repair not too complex to perform, also they should still have their recovery partitions but if any source could point me where to find them it may simplify things a lot

Ok i know im very specific here as i want to collect the high ends version, to give chances to the runner its long term focused and im patient and confident to find them

Thinkpads are wonderful machines and i just fell in love with them, especially these one. For me they, are a kind of signature i cannot possibly consider not owning so wish me luck in my quest if you have anything to offer just leave a message with some pics of what you have for me and a price for me to get back to you.

That's quite a shopping list. All I have to say in finding each one of these is: "Good luck."

In my personal experience piecing together my collection of Thinkpads... the cheapest way to get the absolute best Thinkpads is to find one of the model you're looking for that's already supremely equipped, and build it from there. People very rarely will sell Thinkpads of this caliber to someone else, and even if they do, they won't let them go easy.

I'm pretty sure you won't have to look too far to find a T43p UXGA... but finding one with the 2.26 GHz Pentium M 780 will be a bit more of a challenge. You'd probably be better off getting a UXGA T43p, then just buying the CPU separate and upgrading. The T30 and T61p in the spec you want will be a bit tricky, or may be a bit of a wait, unless someone on here has one to offer you.

The A31p is a bit more of a weird case, because very few of those are still in that good of a condition, and even if they are, you still have to worry about the 7800 going out. Some people on here have outlined modifications to combat the problem. The standard A30/31 laptops are quite abundant, but most people who have an A31p aren't willing to let theirs go, and there's a few others out there hunting for one too.

Hopefully some of the members on here can help you out... but you're looking for the best of the best, and I'm not sure too many people on here happen to have units they can spare. Well, a few might. But still. Regardless, I wish you the best, because I can definitely share in your appreciation of Thinkpads.

How much is that A31P with the Ultrabay Numberpad?
My guess is $200 or so...

I think it may be in these waters. Maybe more. I can understand the fondness this laptop inspire and the unwillingness to sell

Generally, On ebay it starts at least at 100 for a low spec and not alwats complete, price is climbing from there following condition and what is included with it. If I remembee Thinkwiki generally hold a good buying guide about them

For the numpad (if lucky enough of finding one) only the ultrabay plus device holder starts at 70 and for the numpad by itself, the last one I saw popping in sold for 30 still on ebay

Note that these are generally corporate or gov relics from system changes or other clearance auctions in majority so what is available may vary so gotta be aware of the newly added stuff. also it can explain the low prices, with luck it is reasonable to think that for a good deal we can find a hidden treasure

forum prices is a different league (as we all know the scarcity and value of the product here) may skyrocket without any surprise.

So if it can help another A31p fellow

Erm... care to clarify this...?

Do you mean an all original 15" T60p, or 14" T61? There are no UXGA T61/ps. Only way to get that is to get into the business of Frankenpadding, either by buying one from someone(very likely on this forum) or making one yourself.

This list makes me want to laugh. I've got pretty much all these models in my wife's classroom being used by a bunch of 8 year old's. I'd sell them, but then would have to deal with an irate teacher-wife!

UXGA is a 4:3 ratio screen with 1600x1200.
Your 15.4" T61/p has only 16:10 ratio screens in WXGA (1280x800), WSXGA+ (1680x1050) or WUXGA (1920x1200) where the W stands for Widescreen.
Bad thing about T61p: the nVidia GPU.
Instead of T61 you might also consider the (IMHO better) T500 with the same screen options, but with Intel 4500HD or AMD graphics.
T500 also uses much cheaper DDR3 RAM.
Just in case: in about 2 weeks I'll have a T500 with WSXGA+ and AMD graphics available.

I don't know I'm not a fan of the the dock and sata ultrabay combo not matching and I intend to use the laptop both way also I intended using it with the serial parallel adapter. I guess I'll hope the T61p I will find won't die as I definitely heard about the problem
