Hello

I have a Thinkpad R500 that i am going to upgrade to a T420 in a few days, so I am trying to sell this one. Its a nice R500, there are some keys with some shine but others with none. It has 3GB of RAM in it right now but it is upgradeable to 8. For an extra $60 i will max it out for you.

It has a GENERIC power adapter due to the original being stolen. It comes with no hard drive, and the battery doesnt work (Havent tried anything with power manager since I dont have it installed) It has a few scratches on the top, and a crack next to the left screen latch hole thing on the palm rest, its not that long or that bad, i dont notice it most of the time.

I am asking $120 OBO or $180 if i install 8GB or RAM. I can add a used 160GB HDD for $20 with windows 8 and 7 dual boot, if you want. If your interested PM me, if you want pics PM me with your email and I will send them to you.

I think most potential buyers on this forum would like to know the seven character TYPE number on this machine. Might be a good idea to include that.

Would this happen to be it?

Thanks for the advice

Well, yes, that is it. But it would be even better if there is a more descriptive type number on the first page of the BIOS. It would be the first seven characters of the System Serial number. Not the entire number.

You see, CTO means Configured To Order, so that type number doesn't give one much info about how this particular R500 was equipped from the factory.

Ok
I will get that to you when I restart the system next, as of now I am using it.
It is a 2.26GHz CPU, Core2Duo I know that at least

The first 7 # of the System Serial are the same, so im not sure if this will help but they are 2714CTO
The rest of the serial is L3A8652

... in principle it should be possible to check the factory-configuration using the machine model/type number (2714) and the serial number provided above, using the method described at e.g. Why does Lenovo's "Parts Lookup" site not (always) work??, but for some unknown reason it won't accept the data provided in this thread... :?
