FS: Thinkpad 701 screen, base

Hello! I recently got in a 701C that is literally decaying before my eyes...

In every attempt to fix it, the plastics flake off or chip off due to the battery acid, and the hinges appear to have been loosely put back together, because the metal braces in them have been bent forward and back. I've come to the conclusion that this laptop is no good as a full unit anymore, sorry to say. However-I'm pretty sure there's some of you out there who have a 701 that they'd love to fix up, or just have spares handy(in case you actually use yours.)

I'm selling a 701C base, with another bottom bezel that I had handy assembled onto it, because the other one's front was nearly gone from the battery acid. Some of the tiny screws in the very front are missing, but other than that... it's a fully functional 701C motherboard, inverter, and other hardware including the butterfly keyboard. It will not include a battery casing or Hard Drive.

I'm also selling the 10" TFT LCD of the 701C, for those who don't know, the 701CS has a nasty old DSTN, while the 701C has a much more crisp, bright, and pleasing TFT active matrix screen. This screen here has no flaws and functions perfectly fine from the last time it was run in the 701C.

I would like $50 for the base shipped, and another $50 for the screen shipped. I also take offers and would be open to trades if it's something I need (Don't try a 755, R-series, or 300-series. A very nice 600, or Transnote would be absolutely lovely.) Please send me a PM if interested.

that 701C sure has seen better days.. :)
but some of those small parts could be very useful to anyone trying to complete a 701C..
the memory door in the base being one of the parts prone to breakage of the little ears that secure it in the base..
the display too if it does work and is flawless..

is there any memory in it..?

a 32meg art would have some value and if it has a 64meg part in it THAT is very rare..

In the interest of having that information-I went ahead and fetched out the base parts and cross checked the memory module with my working 701C... and it seems the memory module is only an 8MB, as my 701C picked up "16010KB OK" after swapping the memory.

The door and it's tiny little latch/tooth that holds it in work just fine, and it's actually in pretty good condition too. I'd really rather sell the parts altogether, but if two different people PM me with interest to use the laptop's motherboard, and another has separate interest in the plastics, I'd love to split the parts at their own prices. Just PM me with what you're interested in.
