(SOLD) Broken T43p okay shape, won't charge 15', 2ghz, 2gb

#1 Post by paul.str » Sun Feb 09, 2014 10:02 pm

Hello everybody,
For your viewing pleasure I have my beloved Thinkpad T43p. This computer saw me through some epic times, but it has decided that it can no longer be my faithful companion.
So, with a heavy heart, I offer it to somebody here. Perhaps you can revive my friend, or allow his legacy to live in by parting him out to other fallen comrades.

Anyway, it's in okay shape. The screen is a little weird. I think it got twisted at some point, so the backlight doesn't really light the whole thing evenly. It's only noticeable when looking at a white screen, but there's clearly something wrong.
It's perfectly usable, but it's not great.

The keyboard and trackpad work fine.

The HDD caddy is included, but the HDD is not.

The battery is included, but has a crack I covered in duct tape. It held a charge for at least an hour back when the computer worked.
The ultrabay battery is also included, but it had only about a 20 min life when the computer died.
The ultrabay optical drive in included. (model UJDA775, fru 39T2685)

The charger is included.

The bad:
This computer won't charge. Therefore, it won't boot.
It worked fine until I couldn't get it to charge anymore. I haven't powered it on since the battery died.

I used to be able to make it charge by pushing the charging cable up or down in the port, but eventually that stopped working. I am including the new power jack.

This computer is partially disassembled. I removed the keyboard and bezel when I was trying to repair it.
I am included all the screws, but please be aware that some will not be installed.

PLEASE NOTE:
This computer doesn't boot.
As such, I cannot confirm the specs.
I know the proc is at least 2ghz.
I know it has at least 1GB ram, but I'm pretty sure there's 2GB.

I accept (almost) all methods of payment.

Thanks,
Paul

Can I bother you to look and report back the full 7-character model number from the bottom of the machine? TIA.

I can part this guy out if there's any interest.

Price lowered. I would hate to see my friend tossed in a recycle heap.
