FS Windows XP pro and Vista

Update!!!

XP Professional SP3 w/SATA

This was a very successful post in helping raise support and awareness for the forum but since I still have a few copies of XP pro left I thought I'd simply cut the price in half to only $10. This includes a used copy of Windows XP pro with genuine COA and a custom made setup disc with SP3 integrated as well as SATA support and all available updates as of the date I reauthored the disc. A lot of work went into this and I've practically giving these away at this price. My intentions here are simply to help members so what you get is the COA sent via 1st class letter (add $3 if you want tracking) and download of the disc (add $5 if you want the disc burned and mailed to you). This disc I've updated will save you many hours of updates and the very difficult task of getting SATA to work, or if you prefer I can provide a copy of the original untouched disc. International buyers will have the choice of getting a scan of the COA delivered free via email or sent via international mail $3 or International parcel for $6 (customs declaration w/limited tracking) or $16 (including disc.). Shipping prices are in addition to the $10 price of software but three are free delivery options available no matter where you are located.

Vista Business (professional) in 32 or 64bit

I also have Vista available for only $20. Free delivery and all above shipping options apply also. This is the cheapest way to update to a modern operating system supported by microsoft. This will include a disc with the latest service pack integrated either by download or I can burn and mail the disc (costs outlined above).

Vista Ultimate 32 or 64bit.

I believe there is one copy left for $30. The COA is a bit tattered but readable.

Vista Basic 32bit.

When available they are only $15, currently sold out but may have more soon.

I also have one remaining copy of Windows Seven 64bit home premium, key also works with 32bit. $45. PM for shipping options on windows 7.

***One Week Sale to Support ThinkPads.Com Forum***

Although Microsoft is planning on cutting support for the worlds most popular operating system, many are determined to continue to use it because it's proven to be stable and reliable and doesn't require a lot of resources and there will be 3rd party support for it long into the foreseeable future so many plan to continue to use it, so in order to show support for the forum we all know and love, whom many of us consider to be our second home, I'm going to donate 50% of all sales to Thinkpads.com forum (thanks ajkula66 for this idea).

What I have to offer is several used copies of Windows XP pro. This is 100% genuine software and you'll get the original COA with it along with your choice of RTM (oem) setup disc *original release to manufacturing disc used for preinstallation on new computers), or a custom made disc that I've added Service Pack 3, all critical updates that were available at the time I reauthored the disc, and the most important update is that I've added support for Intel SATA harddrives. This means there is no need to disable your SATA controller by running in compatibility mode, no more "cannot find harddrive" during install.

Note that Microsoft has never made any version of XP compatible with SATA and even if you purchased the most recent version from microsoft or any authorized retailer, the only way to install it with your SATA fully enabled was to slipstream the drivers in during install... but wait, there is one more catch because microsoft designed XP to ONLY allow drivers to be slipped in from a bootable floppy drive... but who uses floppy discs anymore??? you'd think they would have changed this in service pack 1, 2 or 3, or made some kind of patch, but no... seems they just don't care and would rather you keep buying new versions.

There are other alternatives, you can design a USB device to emulate a floppy disc and slip the drivers in, or you can do what I did and add the drivers to the disc manually. There are many ways to do this but my favorite is using a freeware app called nLite. It doesn't take a degree in rocket science to figure out how to do this, but there is really no need because I've done it for you and you'll get a disc with the purchase either via direct download, bittorrent download (privately), or I'll burn the disc and mail it to you. If you don't need a license but would still like a copy of my disc? Just PM me with any offer and I'll send you the disc and donate half off your gift to thinkpads.com forum in your name.

Windows XP professional last sold for over $300 retail, and this version I'm offering I dare say is even better and the total cost is $20. half of which will be donated to the forum to help cover the costs of moving us to a new dedicated server with it's steep monthly rental fees.

Free Shipping is available for domestic delivery with disc download, full list of delivery options are as follows.
Domestic options:

Disc download w/COA shipped via domestic 1st class mail *free* (no limit on quantity)

Burn and ship disc with COA via domestic 1st class parcel $5 (includes cost of disc) You only need one disc regardless of number of licenses purchased, but if you want more discs add $2 each to cover disc and additional postage.

International options:

Disc download w/COA shipped via International 1st class mail $2 *tracking not available* (sent as letter with no customs declaration) You should verify if this is allowed in your country, but just in case the letter is not approved by customs in your country, you'll receive a scanned copy via email.

Disc download w/COA shipped in economy parcel *limited tracking* with proper US customs forms $10.

Burn and ship disc with COA in economy parcel *limited tracking* with proper US customs forums $13.

USPS priority mail insured with tracking $24 (coa only) $26 (disc and coa)

Need more than one copy, the first is $20, 2nd to 5th will be $15 each. There is a limited number available so if you need more than 5 please PM me.

Sale ends March 1st so you must either send payment or message me to indicate your intent to purchase so I can get the donations processed and sent to Bill.

Note, this is used software but is as good as new. The right to resell legally purchased software is protected by EU supreme court as long as all rights and all copies are transferred in the sale and the usa first sale doctrine indicates that a manufacturer or publisher retains rights only in the first original sale of a product. These merits have already been debated in the forum and Bill is ok with selling used software. If you don't agree, then do no purchase. I've put a lot of work into preparing this disc and paid good money when this software was purchased and I'm selling it dirt cheap to help YOU, and Thinkpads.com forum. If you have any questions or concerns please send me a PM. Any other questions or discussions you can either send me a PM or reply here, and as always, I accept returns if you're not fully satisfied.

PS. If you want to upgrade to a newer windows version with full MS support but like most of us who are struggling in this economy and don't want to spend a huge amount of money on windows seven or eight, you can consider Vista. I have several copies of Vista Basic 32bit, Vista Business (professional) 32 and 64bit, and Vista Ultimate 32 and 64bit. Despite some opinions to the contrary, once updated vista is a rock solid operating system and isn't much different than windows Seven and I'm offering it at the same low price, also updated to the latest service pack. PM me for details.
