WTB: X201

Hi folks,

My wife's X60 is acting up and in need of replacement. She just uses it for basic browsing and light computing. She likes the small form factor, so I was thinking an X201 would be a decent upgrade in speed without getting too expensive. I found one on Craigslist but that fell through, and I'm always leery of buying a computer on eBay.

Anybody have one they want to sell?

Depending on how small a form factor you actually want (I want my laptops as small as possible), you may want to go no later that X61s. After that came X200(s), then X201 which brought with it the wide screens and, regrettably, larger size. I would pick a X61s: '61 because it supports 8 GB RAM, instead of 3 in '60 and "s" because it's lighter and less power-hungry. Maybe regular X61 if "s" is too expensive/hard to find. X201 shouldn't be much powerful than that, anyway.

Is Craigslist better than eBay? I don't see a reason for that to be true. I would try eBay, especially considering the purchase you are going for is not very expensive nowadays.

I'm now buying X200s or X201, myself, but only because I already have a rare 1440*900 X200s and 2 compatible docs in the household. I miss the smaller size and seriously thinking of upgrading to a Microsoft Surface Pro 2, even though I'm not using Windows.
