It was a delayed start, you may have tried before the auction officially started. Let me know if it does not work again.

Thanks,
Bill

Hello, Could you please give additional information on this item such as:

1) Fresh XP install - so since the fall the unit has had XP installed on it?
2) By "working fine" attached to an external display does that mean that the wireless, bluetooth and hard disk appear to all be OK?
3) Have you used it for any length of time connected to an external monitor to see if any problems surfaced after a few minutes of run time?
4) Have you attempted to take the unit apart and see if any connections are lose?
5) Is the LCD cracked or just not coming on? Is it very dim?
6) Were any parts replaced on the unit in an attempt to fix it or was there a diagnosis of LCD replacement required from a repair shop?

Thanks a lot for any additional information, I'm sure it will be helpful to anyone interested.

1. Yes, since I decided not to repair the computer, I ran it through the recovery disks that reformatted and installed the factory software which included XP Pro.

2. I ran the machine after the fall for several hours; bluetooth, wireless, all worked fine, the hard disk did not report anything abnormal.

3. Yes, reinstalling the software using the recovery disks takes about 4+ hours (literally, thank goodness it completes mainly unattended). So it has had many hours of runtime since the accident no problems noted (other than mentioned already).

4. I did remove the keyboard to gain access to the motherboard. It appears all connections and the lower half of the case are sound and intact.

5. LCD is very cracked, dark, no light whatsoever. I am confident it is toast.

6. No attempt to repair. From my observations it will need an LCD, right hinge (see ebay pix), and a possible keyboard (1 key popped off that I do not know how to reinstall, parts included).

Let me know if I can answer any other questions.
