WTB: X60 with Core 2 Duo

I'm really just looking for an X60 motherboard to put in my X61, but I'm looking for the one with the 2GHz Core 2 Duo in it. If you have an X60 with that motherboard and you'd like to upgrade to the T8100 CPU-based X61 motherboard, I would do a straight swap.

Never mind, I don't need this any longer.

Be more specific, there are at least six X60 mobos with C2D 2.0GHz!

How is that even possible? As far as I know only some variants even have a Core 2 Duo vs a regular Core Duo, and only one CPU model is 2GHz, the one with 4MB cache.

That said, if it has the T7200 CPU on it, I don't really care about the rest of the motherboard. What all can even be different on an X60?

The point is that I don't really care which one it is so long as it has the specified CPU...

I'm curious why you would want to trade an X61 board with a Penryn cpu, support for 8gb ram, SATA2 for one that has a slower Merom cpu, 3gb ram, SATA1 and less powerful graphics.

Is there something specific the x60 is compatible with and the X61 is not?

The X60 will drive the LCD at 60Hz, while the X61 will only run at 50, despite what it reports to the operating system. Unfortunately in my position, where I am developing 2D game software with a targeted framerate of 60fps, this makes the laptop more or less worthless to me.

That's interesting, wasn't aware of this.

I've looked at all the X60 laptops I have access to and I haven't seen any with core2 cpu chips. They aren't that common unfortunately. Would it be possible to have the chip reballed? There were some cheap BGA chips going around a while ago, T7400 if I recall, so you would have a rather unique X60 if it would work.

Good luck in your quest

ps. I purchased an x60 on ebay a couple years ago from a seller that advertised it as Core2, then ignored all my messages asking why I was sent one with a core duo. After I gave up and filed a dispute he replied that Core2 means it has two cores lol and that reply came from the person who's title was "technical specialist". It was still a nice laptop and a cheap price so I didn't make a big deal of it, but the only reason I got that specific laptop is because I needed one that would run a 64bit OS, so I couldn't use it.

As noted in other threads, i was wrong. My X60 runs at 50hz in all modes :/
