WTB: T60 widescreen 6371 CTO fan/heatsink
WTB: T60 widescreen 6371 CTO fan/heatsink
Looking for replacement for noisy fan - have removed and cleaned it w/ compressed air and noise is better now. Fan rotor is stiffer than the one in my standard T60 -- Am concerned that it will fail at inconvenient time and would rather bite da bullet now - thanks all

I sent you a PM a few days ago, if you didn't get it and you still need this let me know.

Hi and thanks for the reply. I have taken the advice of some others on this forum, disassembled the fan, lubed the center bearing and it now runs like a champ. The lube is Singer sewing machine oil. I saw recommendations for Nano Oil from St Claire and it just got here but I had already done the deed. According to St Claire, their stuff can be mixed with other oil types with beneficial results. We will see. Meantime I am keeping my fingers crossed for this 7 year old machine (Has IBM logo still).
Thanks again and Regards - Bob
Just thought of another question though: I recently purchased a replacement keypad for another T60 (std scree) and it really sucks. The keypad is one of the prime reasons I went to Thinkpad to start with - The thing was cheap and I am sure thats the reason - any suggestions on where to get a decent one? Even if significantly more expensive and used a bit would be fine. My old one had the "A" worn off and finally the "U" key fell off ... many miles on too many inspection projects --

From bad to good, there are 3 keyboard makers: Chicony, Alps and NMB.
Keyboards are all the same size and fit in T60/R60/T61/R61/T400/R400 and a few others.

I aplolgize for the off-topic question - your reply did lead me to a Forum discussion on the keyboard mfg, how to recognize the different FRU numbers. Looks like I see some ALPS units on Ebay in the $50-60 range and will start there - Thanks for the response -
