LF: digiziter pen for my X201T

#1 Post by emeraldgirl08 » Fri Nov 28, 2014 4:50 pm

I do not have a lot of $$$ and I really could use a working digitizer pen. Hoping there is someone has one that they could sell or part with for cheaper than $10 shipped. The stylus I have now works on-and-off. TIA.

Just as FYI - sorry I don't have a stylus to offer - the pens are the same throughout X60/61/200/201/220 tablet range.

Happy hunting.

I can get brand new lenovo pens for $25 but I know that's out of your price range. I do have a couple used ones but unfortunately I have more tablets/laptops that need them than I have pens but you might find someone who has a spare laying around. There are some generics available that work pretty well. I got one a couple years ago for my X60 tablet which I no longer own and I think it cost me only $8.99 shipped from china. It was bright white and stuck out the side of the laptop about a half inch so it wasn't pretty, but it worked. I ended up giving it to a member here but if I still had it I'd send it to you.

Also be careful buying them on ebay, I got a generic that was listed as compatible with all kinds of tablets and palmtops including thinkpad X series but they sent me what is basically just a plastic stick and it can only be used on the touch screen models. I only paid $3.99 for it and when I told them it doesn't work on most X series they gave me a refund and didn't want it back. I think when getting the generics you have to look for one that is Wacom Penabled. This is all from memory (2+ years) so don't quote me on any of them, but good luck in your quest and sorry I can't get one in your price range.

@ajkula66. Thanks good to know!

@TuuS. The $8.99 price sounds nice however I sort of need it faster than the time it would take to ship from overseas. Looks like the lowest priced one that is shipped from a domestic addy is $17.32 :|

spamazon has this one for 15 bucks - http://www.amazon.com/Digitizer-STYLUS- ... 00B0W723K/ - and is not international shipping, if you have prime it would arrive in 2 days.

(what is it with you and breaking pens :wink: )

ehhhhhh ok... it claims it's OEM, so I gave in and ordered one. I forget if the FRU is supposed to come with 17 million extra nibs or not. will report back 12/2 or 12/3 on quality &c &c.
go away.

Be careful, although "oem" should mean it's a genuine lenovo part, some sellers use oem to signify it's compatible with original. They have completely reversed the meaning.

I think the originals don't come with the extra tips but the retail boxed replacements do.

On that amazon listing there was one feedback claiming that it won't eject and got stuck in the laptop. That could be a broken release latch or it could be a cheap copy that just don't fit perfect, so inspect it well. If you can get one you know is genuine for a couple dollars more, I'd go for it, otherwise we look forward to your report.

good point! esp on the possible nomenclature mis-use.

hopefully I'll be able to tell the difference when it arrives - let you guys know Tues or Weds. packaging / stickers / labelling, should be an obvious indicator. pressure sensitivity or not, should be a dead giveaway. ditto weight, texture, feeling.

yeah, some reviews claimed it was an exact replacement ("heavy" "soft/rubberized" etc.), and more than a few said the opposite ("slightly thinner than original" "not pressure sensitive" "doesn't fit the Pen-Home / gets stuck in the Pen-Home"). I'm actually somewhat inclined to distrust the ones saying it's the real thing.
although I have to imagine one of the reasons the stylus holder was moved from the front corner to the back of the chassis was, the thing was getting beat up too much, and either devouring pens or losing them.

some of the reviews said "breaks easily" lol - that doesn't say much one way or the other.

none of the reviews, good or bad, mentioned which seller they used. could have even been a seller(s) that's no longer there given some reviews are year(s) old.

even if it turns out to be legitimate Retail version, who knows, Lenovo may have cheap-ified their fab and started sliding towards the junk end of the spectrum. (I mean, they don't make real thinkpads anymore, ha...)

thinking about it, the major worry should be none of the above, but: if it's fake, are there potential random impurities in the nibs, i.e. could it scratch up your screen. (well, none of the reviews mentioned it, but my paranoid self thought of it)
go away.

This is exactly what happened to the one I bought from Feebay. The button on the stylus popped off at some point and as a result the stylus will get stuck in the holder. Also the eraser does not depress correctly. It should be springy and depress when pressure is applied however it gets stuck. I wonder how well constructed the official ones from Lenovo/IBM are?

@tarvoke. Yes I appear to have some sort of incompatibility with Thinkpad stylus these days >.<

unhelpful update: spamazon can only offer the useless info: "intended delivery 12/2". but... gee, it's not 12/2 anymore. and... "Possible delay in delivery due to arrival at incorrect carrier facility" - USPS is surprisingly even worse - "November 29, 2014 , 12:46 am Picked Up by Shipping Partner" (yes, 4 days later. that is the best they can offer)

srsly considering refusing the stupid-order whenever-it-does-arrive, and making a new order which will probably arrive sooner.

/////////////////////

ugh, no, the same seller now lists Prime ordering as backordered. non prime orders are available from same seller... free shipping from SE Asia, might as well count that as 2 weeks f(l)eebay. kinda sorta want to count this as fake/clone, without having even seen it...
go away.

@tarvoke. Good luck on your delivery. I caved-in and bought one from feebay :?

It was the most affordable at a total cost of $11.92 and the origin of my shipment is from Puerto Rico so we'll see how this one goes lol.

Will lock this thread now as my search for a stylus is complete.
