These are *gifts* from Silly Old Me to anyone buying this Classic ThinkPad and the price shall NOT be lowered if you choose not to have them included.


Overall, a pretty example of the final 4:3 ThinkPad. For those into curiosities, the machine was built in Mexico "from U.S. and non-U.S. components for Lenovo", and it sports a date of November, 2007.

known imperfections:

- there are signs of "permanent" security tag removal on the lid. These can't be buffed out. If it were not for this issue, I'd rate the machine at 9.5 out of 10 since there's essentially no signs of wear anywhere else on it.

- the battery - likely the original one - is weak, showing "yellow" condition.

I'm not going to go through the entire nVidia story here, but will say that while the machine sports an "unsafe" date - just like all of its 4:3 siblings - it has been fully tested and shows absolutely no signs of any known ailment. The NMB keyboard looks barely used and even the stickers on the palrest are in almost pristine condition. As for the LCD, it's got to be one of the very cleanest and brightest 14" SXGA+ panels that I've seen in the last three years or so. Unless you expect an IPS screen (don't... ), you will not be disappointed with this one.

Upgrades and downgrades are available within reason.

I might want this, if the Intel T61 I'm getting doesn't pan out. I'm not really interested in any discrete graphics (don't want to deal with drivers in Ubuntu...I'll have to inform myself better about exploding NVIDIA GPUs as well), but I am very interested in a 14", 4:3 T61 that can be upgraded to a T9300, with an SXGA screen that is in good condition like this one. Everything here is just what I'm looking for except for the GPU.

AFAIK, nVIDIA maintains an excellent support for all major Linux distros.

Well, anything prior to 08/08 is potentially failure-prone, and *all* 4:3 units fail in that category.

You can get a NOS 4:3 nVIDIA planar from TuuS...but those rare birds don't come at bargain basement prices.

Your $$$, your call - by all means.

EDIT 12/14/2014: lowered the asking price by $20 and that's as low as this one will go.

"No" for the CPU, "yes" for everything else.

It costs me more in time for me to remove the CPU than the processor itself is worth.
