SOLD: Nice UXGA FlexView T61 frankenpad
SOLD: Nice UXGA FlexView T61 frankenpad
Over the last holiday I got a little fed up with my X61 so I got a T60p and a T61 motherboard to make a frankenpad. Well, I did, and while I really enjoy it I do miss the X series and will probably go back to the X220 at some point.
The UXGA LCD has a small quirk - when you are adjusting the screen, sometimes a few horizontal lines near the bottom of the screen act screwy. It's never happened during use, only during torquing. There is a small dark spot near the bottom-right of the screen, but it's otherwise in great shape with no yellowing of the panel. I have another UXGA LCD where the backlight has some dark spots, but the LCD itself is perfect, and I'd be willing to include that panel too.
Anyway, here's the deal:
-T60p chassis
-Intel T9300 2.5GHz 6MB Cache Core 2 Duo (45nm Penryn)
-T61 motherboard with Nvidia Quadro NVS 140m - this has been working great, it's done plenty of 3D applications without any problems.
-4GB DDR2 RAM (2 x 2GB)
-No drive installed
-Middleton BIOS installed for SATA 2
-Intel 6205 Wi-Fi card
-Extended 9-cell battery with decent capacity ~87% of original
-Great keyboard, not too much shine on the keys
-Original OEM charger included
-Comes with a fresh install of Debian linux or a wiped disk.
I'm looking for $250. If you have an X220, I am interested in a trade as well. I am open to international shipping but it will of course cost more and take longer. I will not lie to customs about the contents to make it cheaper as I have been asked to do numerous times.
I will take photographs shortly of the machine. I wrote this post on it, and it's seen plenty of use in the last month or so as a primary machine.

I guess times are really changing! Is there no longer a market for these?

I'd guess there is a finance crisis still raging and affecting many.
If my budget would allow it, I'd build an even bigger stock.

Re: FS: Nice UXGA FlexView T61 frankenpad, 128GB SSD
If you'd be interested, I can knock the price down a peg by hanging onto the SSD and shipping it without a drive. It's looking like I may need to hang onto the SSD anyhow, so I'll update the post with the option.lophiomys wrote:I'd guess there is a finance crisis still raging and affecting many.

Sorry no, it was not my intention to beat down the price.

Re: FS: Nice UXGA FlexView T61 frankenpad
The main lack of interest is probably due to the motherboard having an nVidia GPU.
And an obnoxious LCD is not much help either.
Give folks the mobo P/N (42W7649 or 43Y9045 native Merom, 42W7873 or 44C3924 native Penryn) and the production-date that is engraved on the GPU (looks like e.g. 0735, which is Year 2007, Week 35).
And with the S/N from the BIOS you can also find the production-date of that T61 laptop by looking up the warranty here:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/warrant ... e=Warranty
(type in the S/N without the dash (same as found in BIOS))
