WTT: ThinkPad X61s for X60(s)

Anyone want a free upgrade?

I'm interested in trading a ThinkPad X61s for a ThinkPad X60/X60s.

It's got the standard LV processor, 4GB of RAM, no drive (you can keep your drive too), and an Intel WLAN card (I can't remember what I put in there, but it's at least a 5100). IIRC it's also got the BIOS whitelist removed, so you can upgrade to whatever you want.

It's been sitting on my desk for about a year now, and since I'm not really using it for anything I figured I'd offer it to someone who will.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you have an X60 or X60s that you want to trade.

If I'm not mistaken I think you can swap the motherboard for a T60s board. It's hard to imagine why you'd want to go from a board with sata2, 64bit that supports 8gb ram to one that is sata1, 32bit and 3gb of ram, but if you want a board I may be able to find you one.

Working with coreboot. The X61/T61 chipset isn't supported.

I'm in the market for an X61s and I'm not having a lot of luck finding one. I could probably track down an X60(s) for a swap. Any specifics you would prefer if possible?

Well the UltraLight screen is ideal, but no, past that not really. Coreboot means I don't have to deal with the BIOS whitelist, so I can put in whatever cards I need, and the memory and disk are both easy to upgrade.

So... uh... best possible case condition?

Heck even a good keyboard isn't a must-have since those are swappable too...

Thanks! Let me know!

I'm sure you have heard of Middleton's BIOS for the X61/T61/R61/X300 series?
It puts in Vista/W7 Slic tables, enables SATA II, removes whitelist, can swap Ctrl/Fn, and change thermal sensing.

Is the Coreboot boot-time of a few seconds really THAT important?

Got an X60s I don't use if you still need to swap.

It is if you want to get into BIOS-level development. I have a couple ideas for projects that I'd like to implement on top of Coreboot (well... Coreboot/SeaBIOS, but still). So... yes. ;)

I mentioned the whitelist, etc. because that means that I have looser hardware requirements (since I can upgrade whatever I want.) I just literally need the X60(s) board.
