Free IBM-37L0888 IBM RT3200 Space Saver Rackmount Keyboard, not working for parts

#1 Post by jedisurfer1 » Wed Mar 04, 2015 6:45 pm

Mom wants me to clear out my dad's storage and electronics, was going to ewaste it but google says it might be worth something to somebody, at least you could pop off the keys and use them in your old one . It's ps2 (not usb), last I remember I tried plugging it in an desktop pc and tried typing some keys, I'd type "m" and it'd type some other key or not register etc.

Also a random box power adapters (Not laptop power adapters, they are adapters to phones, cordless phone charging base, wireless router chargers etc. he'd save them to use in some other random device in case he needed, untested don't have time to untangle or test with a multimeter), no idea if they working.

If you are in socal I could meet you near their storage facility if you want to pick it up. Will probably ewaste it this weekend when I have time to clean stuff.

Hi, I know this is kind of unrelated (was very nice of you to offer this keyboard up by the way...too bad I live across the country) but by any chance, do you know if when plugging a PS/2 mouse into the side/back of the keyboard, does the scroll wheel on the mouse still work? Only asking because the sticker on this keyboard says "two button mouse only" and I don't know if the scroll wheel/scroll wheel click will work?

If you wanna sell it I would be more than happy to buy it off of you, by the way. If not, no problem! Just hopefully you could answer my inquiry before I buy one. :)

Also, are the keys nice and flat or are they kind of hard to press? I am currently using a 89P9200 IBM keyboard (PS/2 but it has no trackpoint) and I find the keys need quite a bit of force to press down. Copying and pasting all day (from having to press CTRL so darn hard) really makes my hand hurt by the end of the day. I was just hoping the 37L0888 was a bit easier with keypresses. I know it makes me sound like a huge crybaby but as soon as I switch to my Thinkpad keyboard my hands stop hurting. :)
