Sure it wil work in a normal T42?

I believe the cooling is beter in a T4xP

Yes, for T42 I have read an article on upgrading the CPU of a T42 from a 1.7GHz 735 to a 2.1GHz 765, and it runs just as cool as before after upgrading!
As for T41, I recall a successful upgrade from 1.3 Banias to 1.7 Dothan, and as far as I know, T41 and T42 have almost the same architecture, as long as cooling compound is applied, 765 shouldn't be too hot to handle.
