I am looking for either an Intel T9300 CPU or an Intel T9500 CPU for use in a 14.1" T61 (which is using the Intel 965 chipset). The basic specifications for these CPU's are the following:

You pay a bit more than on eBay, but you're guaranteed new, tested stuff!
I'd recommend the T9300, best bang for your buck!

There is something to be said for new CPU's, but I really lucked out on my aliexpress purchase; 25 bucks for a T9300! If you want to go the cheap route it is always an alternative, but know that refunds are warrantly doesnt exist in China. I can't promise you that they send you a CPU as good as mine. It might blow up the second you power it on lol.

Thanks for this hint; never beard of "aliexpress" before (I guess it must be these?). I do recall, however, some members here who have warned against buying semiconductors from China (e.g. in this thread), but given the fact that the T9300 is approx. 8 years old, I would "assume" that there should be a lot of cheap off-lease laptops available, which have been shipped to China to be stripped down, and the parts then endning on eBay or various chinese sites. The - T9300's are quite cheap on "aliexpress" only USD 20,- incl. shipping!!

Anyway, I will have a look at "aliexpress" to see what there is. One problem with buying stuff from outside the EU is however the very expensive tax and fee's imposed upon import into Denmark: In Denmark, if buying something from outside the EU worth more than DKK 80 (USD 12), we will first have to pay 25% import-VAT (tax) on the selling+shiping value. On top of that there's an additional DKK 160 (approx. USD 25) import-fee which must also be paid. So, if buying something in the USA or China worth, say, USD 15 (incl. shipping), the total price we must pay amounts to (1.25 x USD15) + USD25 = USD 43.75 (!!!). In other words, not very fun. Because of this it is far more interesting to do business with other EU-countries. In Denmark, e.g. T9300's can be picked up for approx. USD 23 (if you're lucky and have time to hang around), so I was hoping for something on that order.

Bottom line, nonetheless: I am *still* looking for a T9300 or a T9500 (and preferably from within Europe), so kindly let me know if anyone has anything available!

Personally, i rarely ever look for items on forums such as this, but rather go straight to eBay and buy from some reputable european seller. You might like to ask this seller here if he'd also ship to Denmark: ebay.de/itm/272171253255 or directly order from www.ebay.de/itm/281977650345.

Other than that, just keep looking for BuyItNow items from european neighbor sites like www.ebay.de, or www.ebay.co.uk, or also www.ebay.fr. Removing the "Condition: New" restriction, you might find even cheaper items.

If i were you, i'd rather look for a complete T61 with a broken NVIDA GPU but containing one of the sought after CPU's instead, as this usually results in more reusable spare parts for the money.

Be careful with the chinese chips, you're likely to get an engineering sample, or even a different chip that has been reworked and had new numbers etched on it. This problem was huge with GPU chips, but they do the same thing with all chips, sell used junk as new, or even make new knockoffs.

Good a google search on "fake chips from china", or...
