FOR SALE:
A box with 10 used LCDs.

All of them are the same: LG Philips LP150E05 (A2)(K1).
All of them are 15" standard 4:3 format.
All of them are SXGA+ (1400x1050).
All of them are IPS.
All of them are usable as they are.
All of them appear darkish.
All of them could do with a new CCFL.
All of them can be used in 15" T4x/R5x/T6x/R6x (and others).
All of them are packed in a proper 10-pce LCD-box.

If you are handy in replacing CCFLs, here's your chance!

you say they appear dark, but are they also tinted in any way (off-color shading)? i've successfully replaced the ccfl's in a few of these types of used screens, but they still have noticable imperfections like pinkish/yelllowish shading in pretty big regions, usually on the sides or corners.

also: would you be willing to sell a half-box for $20? had to tighten up my budget recently, plus i don't want a pile of 10 screens in my already cluttered place.

In all fairness, I have never bothered to inspect those screens for discolorations, but from what I remember none of them were pink(ish).
All of them came from T60 machines that were converted into FrankenPads (getting a UXGA LED-screen and T61 mobo).
As for a half-box, sorry, no can do.

Keep in mind folks that half this cost is just to cover the shipping if not more so his net price is about $2 per screen. Even if only a few of them turn out perfect you'd be a winner several times over. Generally these are excellent screens, but since they are all from the 2006 era they won't be bright as some may like, but for indoor use they should be fine. I've rarely seen color problems on these, the only significant issues I've seen are pressure marks which appear as bright spots. When replacing the ccfl bulbs if it's not aligned properly you may have uneven lighting, but if you get a good quality bulb and get it installed without introducing any dust you should be good to go.

It wasn't that long ago that these would fetch $50 each or $200 new so I'm shocked these didn't sell yet. These would be great for upgrading some lowend laptops from XGA. You'd need an inverter too, at least for T60 models, but if RBS doesn't have any I could probably get you some.

Good luck with your sale, I know you're just trying to make room and hate to throw out good equipment and someone is in store for a massively great deal here.

i read elsewhere on this forum that if the screen is somehow already discolored (due to age for example), replacing the bulb will only remedy the brightness, not the discoloration. this is consistent with my experience; like i said, i've found out the hard way that discoloration can stubbornly persist even if the bulb replacement goes perfectly.....

anyhow i'm still thinking whether or not to get this box set......will probably decide within about a week (also need to do buy various other unrelated things).
