I have some of these:
http://www.amazon.com/EnGenius-Wireless ... us+EUB-362
These are 802.11 b/g 2.4 gHz band adapters that have been noted for excellent range, but they do not do "n" protocol. They are probably still useful with most hotspots that continue to accommodate b/g clients. Since a b/g client slows down a hotspot, a hotspot can be configured to deny a b/g client. I do not know if public hotspots are doing this.
A wifi scanning utility such as http://www.metageek.com/products/inssid ... 49%2Cd.eXY
would detect networks as much as several thousand feet away. If you are in a rural situation, with connection in your house, and a distant workshed, this kind of adapter works very well with a cantenna or other directional antenna.
Because they are technically obsolete, I do not expect to sell them for cash. The price is just to comply with the listing rules. Looking to swap for misc parts useful for maintaining X61, X61T, T500/W500, and T400.
