I will once Again try to sell my frankenpad, since i don't get to use it that much anymore. It is, as far as i know, the fastest frankenpad currently avaible.

It is kind of a rare bird, since it is 14.1" and features the fastest possible CPU and GPU - the 256MB Quadro FX570m - and it is post 08/08!! But it lost its ultrabay in the process, because it uses a 15.4" WS mobo...

Performance wise the QX9300 is on par with the X9000 - in single threaded applications. In multithreaded it have double the cores

Specifications:

CPU: Intel Core2Quad Extreme QX9300
RAM: 6 GB RAM, being of 4x1 GB DDR2 RAM flashed and 1x2 GB flashed to Work with 1066MHz FSB CPUs
Screen: 14.1" LCD, with a resolution of 1400x1050
GPU: 256 MB nVidia Quadro FX570m post 08/08. Not the 128MB one seen on the 4:3 boards,,
SSD: Crucial 64 GB SATA II SSD (can upgrade, if interested!)
Intel 5100 WiFi + Bluetooth
OS: Windows 10.

It also have a advanced dockingstation, with the AMD HD7750 1GB (currently the fastest avaible GPU for the dockingstation, except for the much more expensive 2 GB version). Optical drive is in the dockingstation, if you can't live without

The laptop is in denmark, and shipping is quite expensive here - especially with the advanced dock.

Note: I do not -need- to sell this, but i think it can find a better home where someone can make more use of it. You are welcome to give a bid - i know it is expensive for such an old laptop. BUT you cannot find a faster 4:3 Thinkpad bougth for Money (yes it is faster than a top specced 1st gen core series T4x frankenpad).

Well.. under stresstest one migth also use it as hairdryer :p (it can blow out some hot air, but doesnt overheat or throttle)

You have a very unique machine there, but keep in mind that this is still a 14.1" model, and does not IPS. That, and the price is probably making the sale longer.

But yes, its not an 15" IPS. A choice i made when Building the machine, because i weren't sure wether the 15.4" mobo could be fitted into the 15" case, and the 14" case is better in my opinion.

For the pricing people are welcome to drop off a bid, i have priced it for what similar models have gone for (albeit 15" IPS models - but "only" with X9000 and NVS140m nVidia)

First - sorry for off-topic. Second - did you had to do a lot of tinkering to fit 16:10 mobo into 4:3 case ? If it is possible im wondering why people didn't try to fit T500/400 into T60p unit. I do realise that alot of I/O ports has been displaced with t61 -> T500 transition but if most of assembly points would fit, this should be doable.

I had to saw off 3 different Places for the mobo to fit, and then it was just to install it. The 2.5" drive was difficult, but with a cable it can fit into the ultrabay slot. I have some info here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=110323

However, it will make no sense to fit in a T400 mobo since: Ports are different, and GPU is rather weak.
W500 migth make a Little more sense, due to the DDR3 RAM and 512mb vRAM - but the GPU on a (good) FX570m mobo can go faster - and you can install a QuadCore!

I have seen a thread for someone fitting a W500 mobo into the 15" T60p, but there was quite alot of Work to do IIRC. I cannot dig up the thread :/

Other than the 4:3 screen ratio, can someone explain why I would buy this over a T430 NVIDIA with an i5-3360M in it?

Classic build quality, classic keyboard layout, unusual safe date FX570m. A flipping quad core CPU in a 4:3 14" T61 is rare and requires nontrivial modifications. You don't buy something like this purely for its performance, but because as specced it is likely one of the most powerful classic thinkpads you'd ever come across. Until 51nb makes the Broadwell motherboards for T70, that is.

Performance wise, it is actually close to double an X9000, NVS140m frankenpad. And with the advanced dock it also beats an T430 nVidia in graphics performance. Not that the T430 nVidia migth not be a better option for many, but just to tell how much performance youd actually have over the "standard frankenpad".

I'd make sweet love to this FrankenPad twice a day and thrice in the night.. the price kinda kills my libido though =[. I'm feeling cheap for trying to bargain because it definitely looks like you put a lot of love into it but still, any chance for a lower price?

EDIT: are the pictures from the thread you posted earlier still relevant or were there any other mods?

Why only 6GB of RAM? Why not 8GB of RAM like other FrankenPads? Seems strange to boost the processor so much and not Max out the memory.

What kind of Temperatures does this beast run at?

When i built it 8GB was really, really expensive. And i don't need more than 6GB in a laptop, so i haven't had a reason to upgrade myself.
But the processor and GPU (which cannot easily be upgraded) are the fastest possible.

Some temps:

Idle: CPU: 49C, GPU: 47C, FAN: 1
Web: CPU: 62C, GPU: 59C, FAN: 3 (multiple tabs open, downloading and wathcing 1080p youtube)
3D: CPU: 75C, GPU: 68C, FAN: 7 (3Dmark Cloudgate benchmark, multiple runs)
