I need a Copy of Recovery Disk for Lenovo Thinkpad SL400 2743-LJU

#1 Post by TechyGirl » Sun Jan 17, 2016 11:00 pm

Hello,

I can't seem to find a working link to where I can find a Recovery Disk for a windows XP Lenovo Thinkpad SL400 2743-LJU for sale. I couldn't figure out how to fix the F11 key (make it work again) so now I'm trying to just find a recovery disk for this laptop. It didn't come with one (because it's an online school laptop - they mailed it to us), so I need an updated link to where I can find one. The internet doesn't work on it, and it is really glitchy, so I just need to restore it to factory default settings. Any help to meet this goal is appreciated. I hope someone can help me!

EDIT 1-20-16: I now just need a copy of the Recovery disk - I'm hoping someone else has a copy of the disk for the Windows XP Thinkpad SL400 series laptops (if you need it more detailed, look above in the quoted text from my original post, the blue text). I hope someone can give me a copy of the disk set, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

The F11 key issue seems like a hardware issue. It should always work under any environment. For the moment, you can burn and boot up a linux live iso image on a usb/dvd drive and test the functionality there. If there are no more issues, than the culprit is Windows.
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53

Also, I forgot to add that the "Lenovo Care" key doesn't work, either. So I can't stop start-up in order to press the F11 key in the first place. Any ideas on how to fix the Lenovo Care key would be helpful as well; I probably should have asked about that before asking about the F11 key. Do I even need the functionality of the Lenovo care key in order to use the F11 key? Thanks for replying, my father and I really need some more help with this, though.

I tried looking the Linux live iso image up on Google, I'm not sure where/how to download it, though. Do you have a link or a tutorial of some sort? That would be helpful. I have a USB; however, it's not empty. Does it have to be an empty flash drive for it to work?

Thanks!
EDIT 1-20-15: The above quote was the old questions I had - I no longer have these questions. Look above in my first post for an explanation.
