I'm looking to buy an x220 slightly I have a slight preference towards an i7 with an IPS display. However I'm buying it for the form factor, and keyboard feel, specs are less important.

Do you know which model screen it has? I heard that some of the IPS screens had ghosting issues.

I have never witnessed ghosting on this system display.
Where or what do we view to answer which model screen exists?

Good to know, thank you.
This is the X220 part number for the display:

IBM Lenovo X220 X220i 12.5" WXGA LED LCD (Samsung) 93P5668 93P5669
LTN125AT01-401
Part Number:93P5669

heads up because the parts lookup is showing WRONG info for a T520 laptop, which is of the same generation as the laptop in question.

Not IPS?
Purchased as HD Premium. All viewing characteristics are that of IPS,
and the part number reads as SAMSUNG LTN125AT01-401 LAPTOP LCD SCREEN 12.5" WXGA HD LED

However, if that part number is not correct, is there software available to 'read' the display
for detailed information?

Purchased where, eBay? Amazon?
They are not exactly known for always telling the truth.

Did you do the parts-lookup as mentioned in my first post? (enter S/N without the dash)
And you can be guaranteed that the Samsung screen is NOT IPS.

Check your laptop with hwinfo: http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php

Screens keep information about themselves in something called 'edid'.

In Linux you can run the command:

Code: Select all

get-edid | strings
On my x220 the output is:
LG Display
LP125WH2-TLB1

I don't think it's IPS, but it's made by LG PHILIPS.

Yeah I am. Do you know what model screen it is? Also is it a i7-2620M or i7-2640M? Also what's the model number? And what's the brand and capacity on the SSD?
