Parting Out a W530 and T530:

#1 Post by NikkoCharger » Tue May 03, 2016 11:39 pm

Hi, guys I am parting out both T530 and W530 as they both have bad motherboards, and I don't feel like fixing them.

W530:
Its a W530 with the K2000M gpu almost everything works fine on it, however when you try to insert more than two ram sticks it will not boot, apparently this is a known issue that others have reported on: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P ... d-p/885723
Right now it is functioning with two 4gb ram sticks installed. The computer is in one piece right now, with the exception of the hard drive, but it does have a few parts available if anyone is interested.
Parts for sale:
FHD 1920x1080 screen, (it does have a small hairline scratch): http://www.ebay.com/itm/121976180915?ss ... 1555.l2649
i7 Mobile i7-3520M 2.9GHz cpu, works fine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121976147169?ss ... 1555.l2649
back lit keyboard, works fine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121976143292?ss ... 1555.l2649
K2000M equipped motherboard, other than the issue listed above it works:
Fru 45n1007 extended battery, works fine, The cycle count was under 100 the last time I checked
170watt ac adapter, works fine
original series 3 dock
entire outer enclosure with hinges and fingerprint reader (top shell has faded corners and palmlest is damaged on one corner with a worn a trackpad)

T530: This was a fully working T530, until I accidentally blew the backlight fuse when attempting to upgrade the screen. Everything else works on the motherboard, there's just no backlight.
There aren't that many parts left, but here's what available:
Top Lid and Bezel with hinges, toplid faded on corners:
90watt charger
Fru 45n1007 extended battery, works fine, The cycle count was around 300 the last time I checked but it still holds a full charge
NVS100 Equipped motherboard, other than the issues listed above, it works
non-backlit keyboard, works fine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121934297506?ss ... 1555.l2649

Some of the parts are listed on ebay, but feel free to send me an offer on here so I can pull them down as I'd rather not go through ebay's bureaucracy.
I will be sure to get better pictures up soon.

Thanks!

As per Forum rules, you must post prices here!
A link to another website is not sufficient!

As for pictures, please read this: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14339 especially Section 5.

All W530 units have 4 slots for ram, but if you have a dual core cpu, only 2 of them will be enabled and you can only have 16gb (2x8) max ram: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P ... d-p/919747.

Whether or not you can plop in a QC and have all 4 slots enabled, I don't know. Perhaps someone else has experience with this?
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, T23, 600X, 770
Other: mk5 Toughbook cf-19, mk1 Toughbook cf-53

W530 needs quad CPU to utilize the 4 slot memory properly.

You have a PM.
