SOLD: 5 *NEW* IPS/Flexview 15" SXGA+(1400x1050) screens -- bulk discounts

#1 Post by tpdude4 » Thu Sep 22, 2016 5:48 am

Continuing my wife-appeasing sell-a-thon... :) (More goodies to come soon, incl. a lovely T500 w/T9900 cpu, and 1 or 2 15" T60's!)

Up for sale are 5 beautiful, new 15" IPS/Flexview LG-Philips LP150E05-A2K1 screens (SXGA+, 1400x1050). All have Lenovo FRU 13N7078.
These are most commonly found in 15" 4:3 T60's. I've tested each of these in such a machine and can guarantee that they work perfectly.
I believe they also work as drop-in replacements in other 15" 4:3 machines (incl. earlier Thinkpads, and probably other brands) -- but I leave it to the buyer to ensure compatibility.

Although I'd prefer to sell all 5 together (for the discounted bulk price below), I'm willing to sell them individually.

...

Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail in all cases. Preferably US only -- might be willing to ship the *bulk* orders overseas, charging additional shipping accordingly (lot of 3, 4, or 5 only!)

**Note: I don't log in here often so please email me at mokarga4_at_hotmail_dot_com instead of PM.**

Oh man... One day after me buying 15" SXGA+ panel from ebay ajkula66 offered me UXGA T43p screen assembly, I bought that as well and then 2 days later you are here offering me 15" SXGA+ again. I will take consideration if I need to upgrade more Thinkpads to IPS or not

This is certainly a *superb* offer, and if someone in Europe would like to "pool up" with me, so that we (Europeans) could grab all five panels from tpdude4, then I'd be interested in buying two of these.

So, you fellow European ThinkPad'ers reading this, and potentially having an interest in "pooling up" with me, please step forward!

Wow, that's great news, Michał... we're moving real fast forward here on this forum! 8)

Since I understand that you are interested in buying all five panels (and hence making it easy for tpdude4, by not having to mess with several smaller customers), it is my opnion that it is the most fair thing that you buy them all. If you are then able - and willing! - to sell e.g. two of these panels to me; fine - and if you are not, then that's also absolutely and totally acceptable. If you however already know at this time, that you don't want/need all five panels for yourself, and hence if you have already decided to sell off e.g. two panels; perfectly! In such case I would be more than happy to make an advance payment to you; then we can always work out the rest of the details (remaining payment, shipping etc. etc.)

Based on the above I therefore suggest that you, Michał, immediately take up contact with tpdude4, and start to arrange what needs to be arranged.

Lovely; it's so nice when things move ahead this swiftly! :thumbs-UP:

Thanks so far!

PS: Perhaps it would be a good idea to inquire about the exact meaning of the words "beautiful" and "working perfectly" in tpdude4 advertisement; does this mean that all of the panels are completely free of any defects (such as no scratches or dents, no "dust specs", no stuck or dead pixels, all panels being evenly lit all around the periphery with no "light bleeding" anywhere, and no weak or worn CCFL's, and also with none of the characteristic "grey corners" which are commonly experienced with ageing CCFL-based FlexView/IPS panels). Just to avoid any drama once you receive and try out the panels the first time!

Best regards,

Johan

Well that was fast! :) Thanks very much for your interest Johan and wujstefan (and the 2 other forum members/browsers who emailed me).

I just now read wujstefan's PM and will reply to him shortly by email rather than PM. (I sold some 15" T60's to him recently and he mentioned he was quite satisfied with them -- and I'm quite sure these screens will be very satisfactory too!)

Johan raises some good points -- I probably should have clarified that these screens have no defects as best I can tell -- *no* scratches, pressure marks, dead pixels, dust specs, etc; and *excellent* overall lighting and color quality.

That said, let's be objective for a minute (I'm a scientist after all!)....The reality at this point (late 2016) seems to be that simply due to the age of all screens from this era and this particular class (CCFL-backlit), the odds of finding an *objectively perfect* unit seem very slim now...e.g., see this thread between RBS, brchan, and myself: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=120930. My takeaway from that exchange: it's not unusual that even brand new/never-used versions of these screens will likely have *some* minor issues, if one looks closely enough (e.g. tiny color/lighting irregularities in some part of the screen). But unless such issues are distracting -- which I have certainly *not* found to be the case -- it's not very useful IMO to be overly perfectionist about them...

...So the question becomes, what level of subjective perfectionism (i.e. fussiness!) will one choose to have? The bottom line from my POV: I feel very confident in saying that these screens are as good versions of these particular models as one will find at this point. :) ...But ultimately, in the unlikely case that any of you end up significantly dissatisfied with any of these, I'd be glad to try working out some sort of refund, etc.

Lastly, some brief context: I actually bought about a dozen of these lovely NOS screens earlier this year (in a bulk order), and I'm planning to keep ~half of them for my own long-term use. But you can rest assured that I'll very carefully select the best ones I possibly can for this shipment -- again, keeping in mind that "beauty, perfection" etc are necessarily *subjective*. (Same goes to the other members who contacted me -- I think I can spare a couple more individual ones, as you've requested. Besides, between appeasing my wife ;) and changing to higher-end machines, realistically I don't think I'll end up using all of them anyway...)

Gentlemen, please check your emails for my replies...And thanks again for expressing interest in these so quickly! :)

All screens SOLD to wujstefan (+1 additional one and 1 15" T60 w/Sharp UXGA). Not to worry, he plans to distribute them to his fellow Euro-padders. :)
Might take a few weeks to arrive because of the shipping etc.

Fyi: I *might* have 1-2 more of this model for sale on the forum sometime soon...they won't be as nice as these but still very good...And will probably have to limit to US only.
