WTB: 8 GB RAM for T400

Now that my "good" T400 has 4 GB RAM (running Vista 32 bit), my "worse" T400 only has 2GB and it's brutal (because it's running Windows 7 64 bit). Now I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in my "worse" T400 by getting it more RAM.
If anyone has some RAM to sell for a T400, I'm interested. I'm looking to get 8GB (2x4GB), but I'm not sure how much I should expect to spend. Any offers would be appreciated.

The T400 has only 2 RAM slots, so the best you can do is 2+2 or 4+4 GB.
2+2 is usually enough for "normal" operation.
If you put in more than 3GB RAM, you'll need a 64-bit OS to access it.

I understand. The laptop I'm looking to upgrade RAM-wise uses a 64 bit OS (Windows 7), so I'll be able to use the 4GB+ RAM.
As for RAM configuration, a 1x4GB RAM chip will work, correct? It may not be as good as 2x2GB, but it should still work?

As cheap as memory is these days you may as well just upgrade to 8GB and be done with it. You will notice a substantial increase in performance.

I'm on a tight budget, but for the right price, I'd gladly take 2x4GB sticks! I'll eventually be able to shift them over to my other T400 when I upgrade its 32 bit OS to Windows 7 64 bit.
I know I can get 2x2GB sticks from Crucial for about $25, but I'm looking to see what I may find here.

I'll have to check my ram stash but I should have a lot of random DDR3 lying around. I know I have tons of 1gb's but i should have some 2's to make 4gb...

I think I found a seller. If the deal somehow falls through, I'll update this thread.
Thanks!

Deal has fallen through. Now looking for 2x4GB, if the price is low enough. Looking for some offers.

You've been talking about getting ram for a T400 since May, when you wrote, "I'm cool with buying two 4GB sticks for my 32 bit Vista OS on my T400. I just want to make sure it'll work perfectly (since the Vista OS can only utilize up to 4GB)."
Several people, myself included, have offered you ram. The machine's got one 2gb module in it. Either you're 'cool with buying two 4gb sticks' or you can't afford it. Make up your mind.

Well he seems interested now.
For the lowest prices I'd recommend feebay, namebrand ram, you can probs get 2x4GB of Samsung, Hynix, Elpida, or something other non-Crucial-but-still-good from China for $35 if you really need them cheap.

Seems like this is the best option.
