Free T30

#1 Post by missouri100 » Thu Oct 20, 2016 11:30 am

My beloved T30 with the all important 9 pin serial port has finally died - - or I killed it. I let it slide out of a chair onto a concrete floor which caused the screen to go out. I bought a new screen and installed it. Now when I turn it on it turns itself right back off. I probably got something wrong when putting it back together. I pulled the hard drive and put in a separate hard drive case to keep my data. If someone wants the rest of the computer I will gladly send it to you if you will pay shipping. I hate to lose this little workhorse but it is apparently beyond my ability to fix.

thanks

Check the inverter and also check if you have short circuited anything. Last time on my T43 I had the bt antenna CONNECTOR shorted the power circuit and had the same kind of symptom. Another possibility is the CPU is dead. I had the exact symptom for my T43 only to find out the CPU socket screw is not secured. Then try unplugging the LCD and cable and then connect it to a monitor and see what happens. Also remember to test the RAM slots as T30 is famous for funky RAM slots
