FS: *NEW* SXGA+ 15,1" Flexviews - last one!!!
Hello,
As promised to a number of fellow forum members, I've got all the flexviews that have been sold by tpdude here lately:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 07#p787507
I've got the last one to redistribute. The whole operation (European Union tax, fees, shipping costs) made them cost me exactly $65,03. Would I be really that bad if I ask for $70 a piece? This makes 65Euro a piece + shipping costs.

Some will be on their way to Johan in a couple of days.
The rest has been reserved by a forum member, but I can't get an answer from him for a month. And so there are still two of them to get!

Re: FS: *NEW* SXGA+ 15,1" Flexviews - last one!!!
Back in Sep. 2016 member tpdude4 listed for sale five 15" SXGA+ FlexView/IPS LCD's for T60/p's in the thread FS: 5 *NEW* IPS/Flexview 15" SXGA+(1400x1050) screens -- bulk discounts. In tpdude4's advertisement, he wrote:
All five LCD's were bought by member wujstefan in Poland. I bought three of these LCD's from wujstefan as per the thread FS: *NEW* SXGA+ 15,1" Flexviews - last one!!! (I paid EUR 215,- for these three LCD's incl. shipping). I did however not receive these three LCD's from wujstefan until late last week. I have earlier this week been testing these "my" three LCD's.
Before agreeing to buy these three LCD's from wujstefan, I wrote him per e-mail:
LCD #1 has two fairly large (cucumber-shaped) weakly-lightblue "luminous" areas, easily seen on a black background. It also has one stuck red pixel, very easily seen as well. Finally this LCD has by far more backlight-bleeding than what I have seen in SXGA+ FlexView/IPS LCD's from LG-Philips before (I own 5+ LG-Philips T60 15" SXGA+ FlexView/IPS LCD's, and have seen quite a few others, but I have never before seen the defects experienced with these three LCD's).
LCD #2 has one similar to the above weakly-lightblue "luminous" area, easily seen on a black background. It also has one stuck light-blue sub-pixel, easily seen as well. Furthermore it has a large number of slightly less visible stuck sub-pixels, scattered over the LCD.
LCD #3 has two (cucumber-shaped) weakly-lightgreen/blue "luminous" areas, both easily seen on a black background; one larger and one smaller. Also, it has a third weakly-darkblue "luminous" area, easily seen on a black background. Additionlly, it has a large number of slightly less visible stuck sub-pixels, scattered over the LCD. Finally, this LCD has a pattern of what can best be described as many faint, fairly wide slightly "glossy rivers" scattered across its otherwise matte entire surface, as if this LCD has been packaged (or stored) erroneously/incorrectly in a plastic-bag that has left a thin, unremovable residue (?) on the surface. This pattern cannot be removed.
I had to (carefully) clean all thee LCD's when I unpackaged them, so it is beyond discussion that they have been used; surely they are not "new".
Although as mentioned above having secured the option of returning these panels to wujstefan (in Poland), in the case of being unsatisfied with the items received (and at the expense of me paying for the return-postage to Poland, which from Denmark will amount to EUR 65,-), I have decided that I do not wish to execute this option. I intend to keep these panels for future use in some of the 15" T60/T61's that I support. People knowing nothing about good/poor LCD's, or being totally uncritical, may live with the imperfections that these thee LCD's all suffer from, but to me all three LCD's are simply too ugly to use by myself. Sigh.
I regret having to report this, but as already said: This deal was a significant disappointment, in particular based on the information I had received from both tpdude4 and wjustefan before agreeing to buy these panels.
NB: Kindly note that I have intentionally not posted this feedback in the thread Negative feedbacks for traders and Tips for fair trading. The reason why I post this feedback here, is that I wish to officially report about this issue, and especially that I wish to encourage future sellers and buyers to always try adhere to the very high and trustworthy standards, hithereto set by users of this forum, but unforunately not experienced in this particular deal. I am not looking for a refund, and I now consider this deal finished, and for my part closed.

Subsequently, tpdude4 in his advertisement added:tpdude4 wrote:Up for sale are 5 beautiful, new 15" IPS/Flexview LG-Philips LP150E05-A2K1 screens (SXGA+, 1400x1050). All have Lenovo FRU 13N7078.
These are most commonly found in 15" 4:3 T60's. I've tested each of these in such a machine and can guarantee that they work perfectly.
Please note that tpdude4 before selling these LCD's was well aware of the imperfections in this type of LCD's, as reported by RealBlackStuff in the thread issues with new LG Philips SXGA+ Flexview LCD. Even while being aware of these LG-Philips SXGA+ LCD imperfections before the sale, tpdude4 did neither change, nor update the description of his "perfectly working" LCD's offered for sale to reflect this knowledge.tpdude4 wrote:I probably should have clarified that these screens have no defects as best I can tell -- *no* scratches, pressure marks, dead pixels, dust specs, etc; and *excellent* overall lighting and color quality.

In reply to this, wujstefan responded me:Johan wrote:Kindly confirm that all the three LCD's that I am interested in buying are completely brand-new, and in purely perfect shape and working order; with neither any stuck nor any dead pixels, with no scratches or other imperfections, with no backlight-bleeding, no dull corners or shadows, and that they all are having new CCFL's with clear, evenly-lit background.
In a subsequent e-mail, wujstefan added:wujstefan wrote:I checked just two of them so far, but need to take a deeper look into them to confirm they are in perfect shape. I'm no photographist so may not be fully competent to check for colour coverage, but if you like I can check them, send you 3 units and if they would not fit your needs just take them back if you cover shipping.
As for their shape, they seem great to me. I can't possibly guarantee they are new (how could I possibly check the bulbs are really new?) since I didn't buy them in the shop - you know their source. I'm not their seller but rather their co-distributor. They do, however, look astonishingly good; I swapped mine UXGA for this one and now I see how dim it was.
All thee LCD's that I received suffer from numerous imperfections, and I am honostly very disappointed with this deal. Buying from experienced (and by default anticipated: Trustworthy!) forum.thinkpads.com members, I had certainly never expected to receive what I did, especially not based on the information I had received before agreeing to buy.wujstefan wrote:I've checked all the LCD's once again and prepared for the shipping. Re: FS: *NEW* SXGA+ 15,1" Flexviews - last one!!!
Dear Johan,
First of all, I'm truly sorry that you're disappointed with the screens you received. I also appreciate the respectful nature of your feedback (no inflammatory accusations or personal attacks, etc).
Regarding the screen issues you've noted, unfortunately I'm simply at a loss for an explanation. As I indicated in my original ad thread, I carefully tested all 6 of the screens I sold to wujstefan before shipping them, and all I can say is that I didn't see anything even remotely resembling the issues you've raised. Please note that I'm not trying to dispute your claims, however based on my reasonable level of experience with these screens I'm quite certain that I would have noticed -- and disclosed to any buyer -- such significant issues before I even sold them. For instance, in the past when I have sold items with known defects (screens or anything else), I made 100% sure to clearly describe the defects up-front, even ones that I consider minor (e.g. see http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=122108).
I should point out -- and I hope the readers won't interpret this as defensive or self-promoting, it's just matter-of-fact -- that although I'm not a large-scale seller, between this forum and ebay I've sold dozens of items over the past ~2 years, and you're the only person I've heard from who was not very satisfied (see my ebay seller feedbacks here). (I realize that you technically got these screens from wujstefan, but I'm willing to take ultimate responsibility for them.) These dozens of sold items have included 4-5 units of these same screen models (LG Philips 15" IPS-SXGA+) in various conditions. In addition to the 6 screens I sold to wujstefan from this particular NOS batch of 10, I also sold 1 to another forum member (who emailed me but didn't mention his username) and 2 to an ebay user. Again, no one else mentioned any issues at all -- to the contrary, everyone who followed up with me was very satisfied.
I suppose one possible explanation for the issues that you've noticed is that maybe the screens were somehow damaged during the many steps that preceded their delivery to you (testing by both wujstefan and me; 2x international shipping, with possible rough handling or inspection by customs at various stages, etc). The original batch of 10 identical screens were sold to me by a senior technician who works at a very reputable local (NYC) laptop repair shop, who I've bought many things from in the past without any issues. He guaranteed that they were brand new/unused, and they arrived in the original sealed LG Philips box, each wrapped in a standard anti-static plastic bag and positioned upright, housed in a styrofoam "cage" with partitions between each screen to avoid contact.
Lastly, so there are no hard feelings...I know you're not planning to ask wujstefan for a refund, but I am willing to offer at least a partial refund if you'd like, without requiring the screens to be return-shipped. Just email me in that case to discuss details (mokarga4_at_hotmail).

Re: FS: *NEW* SXGA+ 15,1" Flexviews - last one!!!
I should also pin here. I needed to recover from illness (and from abit of shock).
I'm a bit upset I wasn't contacted directly but needed to log in here to read there are some issues with the screens - especially that I have offered that I can take those LCDs back for own purposes (after a couple of mails from Johan asking for confirmation that these LCDs are brand new). Not to mention I had no idea transit from Denmark is so absurdly expensive. I feel that both me and tpdude (with whom I already traded a couple of times, and was always very happy) should be posted directly first, no matter if there were any plans posting any additional comments here.
I have plugged and tested all 6 of them. Out of those 6, one did not seem new to me because it had some glue residue - typical for the screens coming from disassembly. I kept this one and mounted it to my frankie (now it's wife's frankie), and she is very happy with it. I ust took it as a seller's mistake and didn't even mention it to tpdude since it was 1 out of 6 - anything can just happen. I can say I am pretty much sure that the rest was either new, or as-new.
I was planning to redistribute 3 or 4 of them, and keep the rest. However, I\ve bought LED UXGA AFFS neanwhile and these were not needed anymore since I own another one, new CCFL BOE UXGA unit. The rest (total of 5) got redistributed.
3 of them were sent to Johan - and I know his comments (now).
Another one has been sent to Italy - and the buyer thanked me three times I agreed to share, so he is happy with it.
The last one was waiting packed for shipment - the buyer asked to keep it till February. When I read the last post, I unpacked it, plugged it and checked it another time. You can see its pics here:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2p58 ... lYyZDhteTQ
I am a hardware design engineer - I am really bad photographist, and I perhaps could have missed something, but I don't think anything such severe as mentioned here. I do not have the sufficient electrical knowledge, but I doubt this is out of shipping. The cold was severe in Poland when I've sent it (~-25C), but I don't think it would make a big impact, would it? They were also packed exactly the same way / box / everything they arrived at my house from the US, so physical damage is also not really likely.
All in all, it's just sad a bit I was not contacted directly to solve the thing out - especially that I have offered myself a solution just in case. After all they did not meet the buyer's needs / expectations.
