FOUND: T500 or T510 (or maybe a W500?)

#1 Post by mh9162013 » Thu Dec 08, 2016 10:59 am

No longer looking. I got a T510 off ebay.

I'm looking for a either a T500 or T510 with the following minimum specs:

1. T500
- P9500, T9550, T9400 or T9600 CPU
- 8GB RAM
- Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
- 160GB HDD or larger
- Radeon HD 3650 GPU (if there are reliability issues with this GPU, maybe I shouldn't get it? Suggestions are welcome)

2. T510
- 8GB RAM
- Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
- HD+ (1600 x 900) or better screen

I don't need an AC adapter for either, but they need to have a battery, although it doesn't have to be perfect. As long as I can get at least 1 hour of run time off the battery, that's good enough.

Also, I'm willing to accept something that doesn't have something I need, but can get myself, such as a battery, Windows 7 64 bit or 8 GB RAM. However, since I'll have to get those items myself, I'll pay a lower price to compensate for this.

I'm open to buying better laptops, such as a W500 or T520, but given my budget, I doubt I'll be able to pay you a fair price for a better laptop with my required specs. But if I'm wrong, don't hesitate to correct me with an offer. Also, my research indicates that there are overheating/reliability issues with the W500.

Thanks for looking!

If you haven't already, please see my ad for a T500 with a T9900 cpu, ~new WUXGA screen, ~new 9-cell Lenovo battery here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=122477.
...At the moment it has 6GB RAM but I'd be glad to upgrade it to 8GB.

It has a 250GB HDD, but there's no OS on it (partly because the machine has a Win Vista COA not Win 7; but mainly because I use linux).
Also, it has an integrated Intel gpu, not the Radeon. But in my experience (others' might vary) there's not a significant difference between the integrated and discrete gpu on these machines in most daily usage, although if you routinely do graphics-intensive work it might be important. You could always try buying a high-end W500 motherboard and installing that (e.g. here's one for <$20 from a reputable seller [no affiliation]: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-LENOVO-Thin ... 1952309273)

I'm also selling a T500 w/T9600 cpu for parts/repair that works with an external monitor, though it might not be what you're looking for:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&p=791193.

...I'm open to negotiating the prices on both of these so feel free to send me a best offer if you're interested.

I could recommend getting a system from tpdude. Already bought numerous systems from him and was always very happy.
Too many thinkpads not enough time!
(stable under reduction)
