Hello All,

I recently came across a source for some 'New Open Box" X230 ThinkPads. I am told that these machines were part of a large corporate order but that they were not actually needed and were kept boxed up as spares until all of the machines were recently upgraded to newer models.

These machines are absolutely brand new from a hardware standpoint and are still in their original factory boxes. Machines were manufactured in May 2013. Model # is 2325-UG9. Full specs can be found here:

https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-th ... ies/specs/

The machines have been powered on, tested, and the hard drives erased for security purposes. The machines are ready for you to install the operating system of your choice. I am running Windows 7 on both of mine and they work flawlessly!

I have several of these units available and am asking $350 plus $25 S&H per machine.

Please contact me via the forum or email if interested.

Thanks,
James

Well, the type suggests it's rather a X230i...

Do they have a COA? Can't understand why hard drives were wiped if they were new in box. What secret stuff could be on the hard drive? Do you have a restore disk available so they can be returned to factory condition? Otherwise the "new" aspect is kind of lost.
Putting on an OEM Windows 7 install is not quite the same as factory condition. Still, intriguing.

Answers to some questions:

1. I can't find any indication of these being X230 "i" machines. They are labeled as standard X230 machines are, and the specs in the BIOS are pretty typical for your middle of the road X230 including the standard i5 processor, 4GB ram, and 320GB 7200rpm HDD.

2. I can't really say why the hard drives were erased other than the fact that I was told that this was company policy for all returned machines. I received the machines in their (opened) original boxes and they appear to be brand new in every way, as far as I can tell. The hardware was advertised to me as being brand new and I have absolutely no reason not to believe it.

3. The machines have no software or operating system installed on the HDD and no disks are included. No COA on the machine. Buyer will have to source their own OS.

Maybe because they were not authorized to re-sell any installed operating system.

Did you check for a COA in the battery bay?
