Anyone need any vintage TP batteries rebuilt?

#1 Post by goldeneagle » Mon Dec 04, 2017 6:48 pm

So far, I've successfully rebuilt battery packs for the 750/755, 755CE/CD/CX, 760, and 560. I could probably rebuild NiMH and LiIon packs for other systems, and in the past, I've rebuilt packs for the 600 (which is probably the most recent I could rebuild without having to reset the EEPROM).

All I'd require is the cost of the cells, return shipping, and something for my labor/testing ($50).

Several have commented that the cost of the cells sometimes exceeds that of the machine. This might be true, but you can enhance the collectibility of these old machines and now use them as they were originally intended, which is not tethered to a power supply. Plus, you can install the latest BIOS update, something you couldn't do on the older machines with a missing or dead battery.

Just shoot me a PM if you're interested.

If interested I can offer you a box full of t60, t61, t500, r60, r61, r500 and maybe a few t400/t61 and maybe a few other batteries that need to be refurbished for $1 each and $20 shipping. You could fix and sell them, and I'm sure there are many good cells in the mix

And I have a large box of vintage dead Thinkpad batteries....360/750, 755, 760, 560, 600, 380 (if I recall-may be more or others) I would be happy to send some for the cost of shipment.
I also have a collection of external chargers.

I'd be curious if the ultrabay batteries could be rebuilt.. I've contacted someone in the past but they couldn't find the right cells.

I'd be interested in this. I have a small collection of batteries lying around myself and could do to have a couple of them restored to former glory.

The T61/p batteries (Lenovo FRUs 42T4511 & 92P1133)
that came with my recent eBay (SafeDate/d) T61 finds ...
are BOTH ... "kaput(t)/kapot" ...

Is there any kind of ... "AfterMarket"/"AfterLife" ... at all ...
for such T61 batteries :?:
:parrot:
You ask about their afterlife I see...

Oh yes, quite useful items.

Let's see....well it could be used as a paperweight...quite useful.

Oh, I know, a bludgeon, in case anyone tries to steal your T61/p.

Well how about as a primitive explosive by cutting it open and exposing the lithium to air or water?

Maybe recycle the plastic and 3D print a new object?

Sell it for scrap metal and use the money to buy something new?

And of course the most useful thing, filling the ugly gap in the back of a T61p that has no battery.

Oh ,you meant actually using it as a battery, well I think you saw this coming.

Nope

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.
