BOUGHT T550 --WTB - T450 or maybe similar

#1 Post by WVZR1 » Sat Dec 09, 2017 12:55 pm

I've had a T440 for some time and I seem to do well with it. Resolution is maybe the only thing that I don't care for. I never changed the touch-pad but I'd sure like the change. There's some interesting buys out there for T450 but I thought I might ask here first. I've been very fortunate with buys from here so my first thoughts are shop here first!! After a buy my T440 would be available, it's traveled maybe a dozen times and still has some warranty. W10 PRO.

Anything available reasonably?

My T440 is now available for sale!

Replace that crappy T440 clickpad with the touchpad with buttons from a T450.
And you can get IPS FHD screens for the T440 (same as T450).
For less than $100 you have a much improved T440, that is just as good as the T450/T460.
And definitely much cheaper!

I had considered the later touch w/buttons but the display I hadn't. My thoughts were maybe just do the T450, hadn't considered the T460 then a resell of the T440 as 'unmolested' might recover enough funds to justify the purchase. T440 still has better than 120 days warranty I believe.

What display would you suggest? Are you interested in doing it?

Look for the exact part AUO B140HAN01.2 (matte), don't accept anything else!
This would be FRU 04X0436 from a T440s, which would be a drop-in for your T440.
All you need to do is remove the LCD-bezel (held with clips), remove 4 screws that hold the LCD-bezel-assembly, and remove the LCD-cable before swapping screens.
Get the HMM for instructions for DIY.

How about picking me a 1600 X 900 LCD and I might consider it. Your mentioned FRU is I believe 1920 X 1080 and that for sure wasn't what I was interested in. Post that and I'll likely start a newer thread and get out of the 'MarketPlace'. If you've done the newer TouchPad recently where did you buy? There seems to be hundreds of vendors now.

I believe also there's a 'sheet' that likely needs to be removed to get to the bezel. I need to study this.
