Looking for an UltraBay adapter to use in a T43 that will enable me to install a 2.5" SATA SSD.

Search one on eBay. Those things can typically come with normal SATA ports, so you can use a 2.5" regular SATA SSD. Those things may be designed with straight front panel to fit in T60, so you will have that weird bottom sticking out if you use that on a T4x.
Bought one of those but I need it for my T43 motherboard with a broken IDE HDD connector or even bridge.

You'll need to search for SATA UltraBay's intended for T/R/X/Z6x/p ThinkPad's; see e.g. this post where you will find the relevant Part Numbers (P/N) and /or Field Replacable Unit (FRU) numbers, being 26R9246 and 26R9247 and 40Y8725. Try search on eBay for e.g. "T60 ultrabay" and you'll find these from USD 10,- and upwards

I've been using various such ("T60") SATA UltraBay's in my T42's/T42p's for years; no problems at all with 2.5" SATA HDD's.

I have a genuine Lenovo SATA-adapter with FRU: 45J7902, P/N 45J7901, which will work in both T4x and T6x.
It does have a straight bezel though, as well as the wide "tab" (which can be cut off for use in a T4x).
In as-new condition, $20 incl. shipping in USA.
Payment via PayPal, using option "send money to friends or family".

SOLD to a forum member.

I bought 2 of the following (for U$D9.75/ea):
T4x/T6x UltraBay SATA HDD Caddy

As far as I know ... those connect to the T4x/T6x as P/ATA / IDE
:BAAAD!:

They do connect with IDE.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

In my T61 14.1"ws I have
two (2) IDENTICAL 7200rpm HDDs:
HGST Travelstar 7K1000 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
That T61 (also) has the Middleton BIOS.

Here are today's (ATTO) HDD BenchMark results ...
for the c:\ drive: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and for the UltraBay drive:
ImageImage
The results are nearly identical ...
The UB drive might have actually BenchMarked better :SH!:

I am not sure what to make of the above results :?: :? :?:
I would have thought that the c:\ drive
would have BenchMarked "markedly" better ...
than the IDE-connected UltraBay drive

Today I ran some CrystalDiskMark 6.0.0 BenchMark tests ...
(I just used/ran the CDM default/out-of-the-box settings ...)
Here are today's (CDM) HDD BenchMark results ...
for the c:\ drive: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ and for the UltraBay drive:

Here's the (comparative) CDM results ...
for that same 7200rpm SATA HDD ... in that same SATA»IDE UltraBay Caddy
as my T43 UltraBay drive: ~~~~~ as my T61 UltraBay drive (see above):

Here's the CDM results ...
for a 5400rpm SATA HDD ... in that same SATA»IDE UltraBay Caddy
as my T43 UltraBay drive: ~~~~~ as my T61 UltraBay drive:

ImageImage
The above ~ when compared with CDM results
for a 7200rpm SATA HDD in that SATA»IDE UltraBay Caddy ~
seem to indicate that there is NO VALUE/POINT
in even using a 7200rpm SATA HDD
rather than a 5400rpm SATA HDD
in that SATA»IDE UltraBay Caddy  :!:

Here's the CDM results:
for a 5400rpm P/ATA/IDEHDD ... in a "straight" IDE»IDE UltraBay Caddy
as my T43 UltraBay drive: ~~~~~ as my T61 UltraBay drive:

ImageImage

The above ~ when compared with CDM results
for a 5400 rpm SATA HDD in that SATA»IDE UltraBay Caddy ~
seem to indicate that a 5400rpm SATA HDD in that SATA»IDE UltraBay Caddy
READS yet does NOT necessarily WRITE faster
than a 5400rpm P/ATA/IDE HDD in a "straight" IDE»IDE UltraBay Caddy.
