Thinkpad Power Series PowerPC 820 7247 and 850 7249

#1 Post by Thinkpad760c » Sun Jan 28, 2018 7:36 pm

Hello All,

I have one of each PowerPc 850 7249 and PowerPC 820 7247.
I know they are very rare and expensive, I'm trying to sell them but I want some idea how much they would sell for.
The 850 gives some memory error message and didn't pass memory test, I want to disassemble and replace the memory if possible.
The 820 boots up the AIX.

Thanks for comments!

Per forum rules you must declare a price for a for sale listing.
Probably should be Thinkpad16by10.

Looking For: 386 laptop, IBM or not.

hello and welcome to the forum..
and YES, Thinkpad4by3 is correct..

i sold an excellent example of an 860 power PC without a HDD for about $500 or $600 a few years ago..
mine had the camera option on the top cover..
one of yours has the SCSI HDD and the unix OS..
so while it gains there and might lose in other areas i would at least start with $500..
i have been slowly selling off my 701C thinkpads for about $200 to $400 (via another forum member) but they mostly suffer from the "soft paint" syndrome..

your memory errors COULD be the memory card which, if memory serves (again), under where the floppy drive would plug in on the left side under the keyboard..

i would suggest that, if you want to sell yours, to check out ebay on the off chance one has sold there recently or post an asking price with a MAKE OFFERS caveat..

I don't see any update on the price in the post either, so it might be a while yet until we see something.
