Cheap/FREE! Old Thinkpads and Parts - You pay shipping.

#1 Post by CoolRunnings » Fri Mar 16, 2018 12:19 am

I've got a pretty big stack of old Thinkpad parts I will never need any longer due to moving on to the new stuff. Here's a partial list. I'd really like to just pack all this up and ship it to somebody that enjoys refurbing the old Thinkpads. I REALLY don't want to break it up and sell it off to cherry pickers as I don't have time to test this stuff out. This is an all or nothing deal unless someone wants to offer cash for something. If I don't get any offers on the whole box, it'll all get dropped off for recycling next week. PM me if you're interested.

Thinkpad 760XD - Really nice shape. Had to remove hard drives due to customer data but have the caddy. Needs an AC adapter.
T42p 15" - Nice cosmetics. Don't have a clue if it even runs though. Don't have a power cord for it but do have a dock.
Thinkpad T60 15" with 1400x1050 IPS LCD + kit to upgrade it with a T61 motherboard and a new LCD. - Works, just don't have a need for it any more. Has a dock. Needs an AC adapter. Has a cracked keyboard bezel.
Thinkpad X301 - Seen some heavy wear but fully functional. Converted it to a Chromebook but really don't have a use for it. Has a 160gb SSD in it. Those 1.8" drives are a real pain to get! Needs an AC adapter
Shell of a Thinkpad X201 - has a working screen but seems to overheat and shut down. Doesn't stay on. Mostly listed this for anyone who needs a lid and LCD for their X201
Big stack of T420/T430 LCD bezels. These have scratches and scuffs but they work. Good if yours cracked and looks aren't THAT important to you. Have ~ 15 of them
T420 Motherboard in roll cage. Untested but very likely good.
5+ T420 Lids. These were purchased in bulk from China and have been resurfaced to look nearly new. They don't include LCDs.
Box of 5-10 1366x768 LCDs for Thinkpad T420/T430 laptops. Most of these are grade A- to B+. Probably a few gems if you like that low resolution stuff.

I've sent a PM regarding the T60 parts. =)
Has plans to make a Frankenpad. Please sell a Thinkpad T60 or T60p with a 1600x1200 screen resolution to me. :D

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Darn.

I'm going to guess that unless OP is not in the US, you're closer so you're shipping will be simpler. I wish you a lot of fun with the 760 - I really like these machines.

Edit: Yes, I know his profile says he is. I'm just saying on the off-chance where he is on-vacation in Asia (and he took his Thinkpads with him??).

Thanks. I have a box of about ~200 486-era CD-ROM games I have been wanting to play for a few years now. Also, I killed my T42p about 7 years ago and I miss that thing. :( I want one back.

Don't worry, it'll go to a good home. :)

I'd like to join this club and (edit: I did) start a thread viewtopic.php?f=58&t=125820 in some #water-cooler type forum on this site about those of us not in the US.

All Thinkpads after T22 have AC97-like sound cards and almost all 486-era games is DOS games which 99% haven't drivers for AC97 and modern PIC sound cards. I belive you want to dive into oldgames atmosphere but it will be hard without sound.

I meant for the 760XD. Those will run fine on the 760XD.

I see.
OFFTOPIC:
I have used 600e, 600x, T2x (before BOD) and 560X for such retrogaming. And 560X is nice for me. With CF to IDE adapter it is absolutely quiet (no cpu fun at all;) but have only monospeaker and no CDROM :(

I'd really like the X301, but I'm overseas and shipping even it alone will be pretty expensive. Please let me know if you would consider getting rid of X301 alone.

Not sure what is going on here. Sent the OP a PM regarding the entire lot a few hours after his post; I see that it was read, but never received a response.

Same here, but by pure chance, stumbled on a 760xd on ebay for 25$ so I gambled on it
