WTB > X1 Carbon 6th
WTB > X1 Carbon 6th
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am living in Israel where I don't have official Lenovo.
Therefore I am looking for someone to purchase an X1 carbon directly from Lenovo and ship it over.
There's a 25% discount going on so that's why I am interested in the Imoport.
Specs:
Model: 20KH006JIV
Screen: 1080p FHD non touch
Ram: 16 gb
Storage: 512gb
CPU : i7 - 8550
Thanks in advance,
Also how much is i7 8650 better than the 550 version

Re: WTB > X1 Carbon 6th
I am willing to pay someone to actually check the laptop first, cause I had to RMA the one I bought in Israel. It had the LID problem.
So I need to somehow ensure that the lid will close evenly, and keyboard is the more quality one.
Anyways, thanks for the tip. I will definitely do so the moment I know there is a good unit around without any bugs and defects.

Lenovo lists reseller sites on its Lenovo Israel page. Presumably you could look at the actual unit at one of those resellers instead of relying on someone else:
https://www.lenovo.com/il/en/dealer-locator/
I entered Holon in the search field and came up with three nearby resellers, two of them listed as Lenovo Key Focus Partners, which presumably means that they work directly with Lenovo.
You won't get the discount, but presumably you would have to pay a reasonable fee to someone else to buy and ship a computer to you from another country - especially when that person would have to take the risk that they'll have to return the machine if it isn't right the first time.

Re: WTB > X1 Carbon 6th
Thanks for reply,
Thats true.
But my concern is the 1000USD price difference between buying in Israel and buying in the US + shiping + tax.
The person to do so can easily hook himself up with 100-150$ for the time spent walking to the store, opening the box on spot and checking visually and physically the product.
Many thanks in advance,
Also - Lenovo has it's accidental damage insurance that can cover the shipping risk.

Re: WTB > X1 Carbon 6th
And presumably you would make this financially risk-free for anyone who might hesitate before spending thousands of dollars of their own money in order to send a computer to a member of this forum who joined only yesterday.
Re: WTB > X1 Carbon 6th
There is no 1000USD price difference; it's a fallacy.
For example:
https://www.zap.co.il/model.aspx?modelid=978556
This computer costs around 7900 NIS in most decent places, which is just under 2,200 USD at the current exchange rate.
Configuring the exact same configuration on the Lenovo website brought me the total to just nuder 1,600 USD, so a $600 difference. That's still a lot, because of the 25% discount coupon; without the coupon the price would be almost equal, and with the US tax, the US price would be higher. Shocking, no?
So, it's true that there are "almost always" coupons on the Lenovo US website, so we can assume that the $600 is an actual difference. Well, shipping and local taxes would eat into most of that, as you know. You might come up a couple of hundred bucks ahead for all this hassle, and you won't even have Hebrew on the keyboard.
The only way people get a $1000 difference in their imagination is because they are comparing the configurations offered in Israel to the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel configurations on the Lenovo US website that no self-respecting person buying a business computer would ever touch (like 1year warranty, Win10 Home, etc). We just don't get offered these kind of configs in Israel; smaller market, and all that.
But in any case, good luck with your endeavor.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

Re: WTB > X1 Carbon 6th
Actually regarding ZAP,
the configuration I went with is 8990 NIS which translates to around 2500 dollars.
Same settings with "THINKPRESIDENT" coupon code, added warranty to 3 years and Office results in 1600USD price tag.
That's a 900usd difference.
Tax is 17% in Israel so it becomes 1872 USD. Still a valuable 628 dollars.
