I am the original owner of this ThinkPad W520. I've never sold a ThinkPad through this forum before, though I have used the discussion boards on several occasions and received some great help and advice. Asking $175.00 plus shipping.

Cosmetic condition is very good. Some of the trackpad's original bumpy surface has worn smooth over time. There are no cracks in the case. No known dead pixels or screen defects.

The original Seagate Momentus 500GB 7200 RPM hard drive failed, and was replaced with a very lightly used Seagate ST500LM020 500GB 5400 RPM drive. Swapping out the drive for an SSD would give you an enormous speed boost! I will negotiate a credit if you don't want the hard drive and Windows 10.

The laptop originally shipped with Windows 7 Professional, and was later upgraded to Windows 10 Professional. The hard drive has been completely wiped, and Windows 10 has been freshly reinstalled with version 1803. All currently available drivers and Lenovo software have been loaded. No additional software, installation media, or recovery disks are provided. The recovery partition normally found on ThinkPads is not present.

The BIOS is the most current version, 1.46, dated 06/14/2018. There is no BIOS password. The TPM has been cleared. BitLocker is off.

*** CAUTION ***

This laptop runs well on Windows 10 version 1803, but I had problems with version 1903. The integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics driver wouldn't install. Intel chipset and USB drivers that I normally update through Device Manager would not update. To minimize future problems, I have set Windows Update to the Semi-Annual Channel with a 365 day delay for feature updates and 30 day delay for quality updates.

The battery is original but does not show any signs of swelling. Replacement is recommended.

The DVD drive sometimes pops open when you pick up the laptop. I just close it and go on about my business. Drive operation isn't affected.

This is a solid machine that worked well for years; I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thanks. And for what it's worth, my very similarly spec'ed W520 is running Windows 10 Pro version 1809, and it seems very solid to me. I'm on the "Semi-Annual Channel (Targetted)" Windows update schedule.
