FS: 4x 15" 4:3 T61 Frankenpads plus accessories

#1 Post by Qing Dao » Fri Mar 13, 2020 9:24 pm

Hi. I bought one of these on here and I built three by myself. With the ones I made myself I wanted to go all-out and do the best job I possibly could, considering them useful works of art. These machines are beautiful and still work well. I used the Thinkpad I bought here the most, even though it has the poorest specs and is in the poorest condition. I couldn't bring myself to possibly damage the other three Thinkpads that I worked so hard to build. I don't know why I never shared these on here before. This thread is to show what I did and see if anyone wants to buy them. If you want to buy, it is all available for pick-up only (there is way too much stuff and it is heavy, and I'm worried about it being damaged) for $1000 in Newark, Delaware, USA.

4x 15" UXGA 4:3 Frankenpads

Chassis: Three look great, one looks bad. The bad one has a broken tab part where the hard drive cover screws through. The three good ones are in overall amazing condition, but two of them have cracks on the palm rest. This doesn't affect funtion. You can see EVERYTHING in the photos. Besides the palm rest cracks, the condition is absolutely amazing considering these T60 chassis are 14 years old and were used business laptops that I bought 5-6 years ago. I added the relevant, official, authentic palm rest stickers based on the hardware within each computer.

Motherboards: 1x NVS 140M. This seems to not have any issues. It still works. I think it has the Middleton BIOS. 3x X31. These three have the Middleton BIOS and have been modified to run 266Mhz FSB processors. All boards work perfectly fine.

Screens: 4x UXGA. 1 is CCFL backlit and has dimmed a bit. Perfectly usable, but noticeably dimmer than the LED backlit one. 3 are original LED backlit screens. I bought new connectors and soldered them onto the screens so that the original LCD cables could be used. Two are in good shape. One has a press mark that shows up as dark blue when the screen is black, but becomes invisible when the screen displays anything that isn't black.

RAM: 4x 8GB kits. Two or three of the kits have been modified to work with 266Mhz FSB motherboards. I had to solder new EEPROM chips to flash them. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=117168&p=753477

Processors: 1x X9000 C0 stepping. 1x X9100 ES E0 stepping, 1x Q9000 ES E0 stepping, 1x T9900 ES E0 stepping, 1x T9400 ES E0 stepping, 1x T9400 E0 stepping, 1x P8600 E0 stepping, 1x T2330 M0 stepping. If interested, I have another X9100 ES E0 stepping in an HTPC I am running which I could pull and swap with something.

Hard Drives: 1x Samsung 830 256GB with no problems. 1x 512GB Samsung PM851 MSATA in a 2.5" case. This Samsung has the slowing down problem when not accessed.

Wireless Cards: A BUNCH. At least 3x 7260AC.

Ultrabay Drives: 3x DVD-RW, 1x DVD-ROM/CD-RW, 1x Serial Ultrabay Slim DVD-RW, 4x SATA HD bays (one is missing the HD locking mechanism, but still works find without it)

Docking Station: Type 2504 Fully functional. 2 keys. Great cosmetic shape.

Power Supplies: 4x 90W with two prong cord, 2x 90W with 3 prongs but missing the cord, 1x 65W with 3 prongs, but missing the cord.

Batteries: 2x 9-cell Lenovo batteries, 2x 6-cell Lenovo batteries, 1x 6-cell 3rd party battery

ExpressCard adapters: 3x Dual USB 3.0 cards. These work very well and I haven't needed their external power for anything. They can't reach full USB 3.0 speeds, but are able to max out the ExpressCard slot. 1x FireWire card.

Windows Licenses: 3x Authentic Lenovo WIndows 7 Pro OEM licenses. 2x Authentic Lenovo Windows XP Pro OEM licenses. I blurred out the serial numbers in the photos.

Stickers: Lots of Intel,Windows, and Lenovo stickers. Also plastic laptop bags with anti-tamper stickers.

While I'm not able to pick these up locally, let me know if you split the lot & decide to ship, since I would be interested in one of the Frankenpads with a LED screen.

Hi, would you have just X9000 for sale delivered to Ireland?
And maybe 2x4GB DDR2 RAM sticks?
