WTB ThinkPad T520 battery and keyboard

#1 Post by kfzhu1229 » Sun Jun 07, 2020 3:40 pm

As I said in another thread, I have a highly-specced ThinkPad T520 lying around as a spare, and that my friend's friend's friend needs a laptop for maximum C$200. I have decided to step down the CPU to an i3-2328M lying around, 6GB RAM and a 128GB SSD.
Now I just need a battery. The original battery was totally dead and also lost. I was told that the battery doesn't have to be long lasting, a battery life of 1-1.5hrs would be nice, but really it just has to work long enough for one to move the laptop to a different room without putting it to hibernate.
If anyone has a spare one, please PM me with the price and postage to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Thanks a lot!
I will sell the i7-2860QM in that T520 a few days later here when I confirm I will be swapping that out for a i3-2328M to bring down the costs. I could also be interested a midrange i5-2520m or similar instead of the low end i3-2328M if the budget allows.

UPDATE: I also happened to have damaged the traces of the keyboard when I was cleaning it with Lysol (should've used alcohol instead, Lysol eats away the traces on the membrane as soon as it touches it).
Drove 60KM to pick up a really, really broken T520 in hope of salvaging its keyboard, but despite the keyboard looking in good condition, that keyboard is also a no go. So I am also looking for a keyboard atm, and I will sell or give the other components of that "broken" T520 on another thread soon. I did see deals locally but they aren't all that cheap so I am seeking this forum first then.
I won't be needing any CPU anymore since this one came with an i5-2520m working.
There was water damage right on the membrane to ribbon connector of the keyboard, and right underneath on the LCD cable! Despite me cleaning the corrosion and patching the broken traces on the keyboard, the keyboard now works but shorts out at certain angles of flex and the trackpoint is not working, but the motherboard with extreme amount of corrosion on the display connector (1/3 of the pins on the display ribbon cable are gone!), cleaning that up with contact cleaner and it fired up with my 1080p screen and cable!
