Recipient: Heather Lancaster
Email:

That was the person that I sent payment to and received a good condition ThinkDock - I guess I was lucky...

I just heard from the other party who paid for this laptop.
It seems that bilmind had already sold the T42 to him when he accepted payment from me. He is obviously a scammer. Luckily for the other guy my payment made his refund.
Anybody got a cousin Guido who can go break a leg for me?

But how do we know that Heather Anthony (or Lancaster) isn't just a dispatcher at the porta potty company this guy drives a truck for? ....or whatever.
A name isn't hard to come up with and little proof is needed to have a Paypal acount.
On the other hand this "guy" may actually be Heather Anthony (or Lancaster).

Ok, I finally found the box. Here is the information:
Heather Embry
(813) 667-5355
The UPS Store #5193
Ste C
5004 E. Fowler Ave.
Tampa, FL 33617-2181
Not sure if this helps b/c the return address/phone number is the UPS store where she sent the ThinkDock to me.
Good luck.

The UPS Store # 5193
5004 E FOWLER AVE, UNIT C
TAMPA, FL 33617 - USA
Phone: (813)514-2511
So, the phone number is not that of the UPS Store; at least, not the number they give on their own site (
www.upsstore.com).

that is too close for comfort..
i tried calling (813) 667-5355 but a recording saying it was not in service answered..!
i hate to see someone get taken by a member, here..
i will delete that account or make it inactive if asked..
this is serious.. a call to the cops might be in order..

Maybe Bill can also provide the authorities his IP address so you can find out who it is through their ISP. Unless he/she is really sneaky on routing.

Now that I have some idea where he lives, I agree.
Any ideas on how I should approach this when I am talking to the police? I've never had to call the cops before.
All of your investigative efforts are very much appreciated. Thank You!

That's near a very transient area of Tampa... by the University of South Florida and just northeast of Busch Gardens. Right at the border of the city of Tampa and Temple Terrace. I believe I know where the UPS place is there near MOSI. She/He is likely a college student or someone who don't stay put too long. I'm quite familiar with the area. Going there today to the doctor in fact. If you need a foot-soldier for anything over here give me a PM and I'll help if I have the time (and health permitting) but it's not TOO close to me. In the meantime I'd call the Tampa Police Criminal Investigations number at (813) 276-3564. You could also call the city of Temple Terrace Police Detectives at (813) 989-7118. If you need any other numbers just ask.
Good Luck.

My bank posted the full amount back to my account today.
That's good for me, but bilmind got away with it....so far. Maybe now that Paypal is out 1k they will get more interested in finding bilmind.
I don't think I will be using Paypal anymore. I hope some of you learned from my experience.
Don't use Paypal. If you think you must use Paypal be sure it is funded through a credit card so you can charge back. They won't protect you!
I'll be more selective from now on. Never let your guard down when trading on the internet.

I'm glad that you got your money back; there is justice in this world.
I've been using Paypal for about three years now and I haven't yet had a problem with them. They def. favor the seller though and not the buyer - they make money off the seller.
That being the case, people should always be careful. Paypal is just a tool and should be treated as such. It's served me well and so I continue to use them.

I had been using them for over five years for nearly 300 transactions and had some smaller problems before but this one taught me a lesson I won't soon forget.
I hope you never have to suffer a potential $1000.00 loss, it wakes you up fast.
