SOLD! X220/X230 Nitrocaster Kit with LG LP125WF2 FHD Panel
SOLD! X220/X230 Nitrocaster Kit with LG LP125WF2 FHD Panel
SOLD to a Forum Member 10/05/20
Greetings Gang!
Another project that was allocated to the "back burner" awhile back. and now has to be sacrificed to expand my struggling Nikon collection!
(And you thought vintage Thinkpads were expensive.....Heh heh! )
First chance to Forum members before this goes off to eBay.
X220/X230 Nitrocaster Kit: Revision 5 Board, plus all the necessary cables, connectors and wires as originally sold in the Nitrocaster package.
LG Panel: LP125WF2 (SP - B4). 12.5" FHD IPS Panel 1920 x 1080 resolution Matte Non-Touch
Panel Link: https://www.panelook.com/LP125WF2-SPB4_ ... 24654.html
Pics link: https://app.photobucket.com/u/olex126/a ... ef965e141d
THIS IS A NEW KIT AND A NEW PANEL. The "Pepe" board only taken out of the package to photograph.
$175 U.S. plus shipping charges. Payment via Paypal, or if in Canada then e-mail money transfer or Canada Post Moneygram work too.
Kit and panel will be securely packaged and sent (insured) either via Canada Post Expresspost or on my Fed-Ex account, your choice, they both run approximately within a few dollars of each other for the same type service.....however, in these days of mail/parcel backlogs everywhere, Fed-Ex may be the wiser, speedier and more secure choice.
Note to Overseas (not U.S.) Forum Members: Shipping from Canada is expensive, regardless of which method is used. I have sent several overseas shipments recently and in all cases the costs amounted to between $65-$85 for packages only slightly larger or heavier than the size of this package. Be forewarned!
PM with any questions or for further info!
Thanks. Regards.
Dave
P.S. If you require either an X220 or X230 to complete the project, I have a pair of each I can part with as well. P.M if required.

Hi there.
I'm interested in this item. I am reasonably close to your location at Toronto. Maybe we can meet up somewhere?

Re: For Sale: X220/X230 Nitrocaster Kit with LG LP125WF2 FHD Panel
Hi Mellon.
I appreciate your offer to meet up, and under normal circumstances would be happy to do so.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, see below!) I had cataract surgery in one eye yesterday morning, with the other eye scheduled in two weeks.
My driving anywhere for awhile is going to be non-existent!
Mailing the kit/screen is my only option for awhile.
(P.S.& a bit off-topic....for anyone considering cataract surgery, JUST DO IT! A painless laser procedure, and the correction in vision is stunning!
Whites really are SO much whiter and brighter, and colours just pop....(So..all my old A31p UXGA screens aren't REALLY as yellow as they used to be!
The gradual loss of details and colour over the years isn't noticed until it is corrected....and then WOW!
In my case, I had my eye-glass prescription built-in to the replacement lens, and voila!....no more glasses.
I had some trepidation going into the surgery, but even one day after witnessing the results, I can't wait for the second surgery!)
Regards.

off topic remark re. cataract surgery..
i had it done a couple of years ago and agree the results ARE, if all goes according to plan, excellent overall, BUT (there is always some sort of BUT someplace) you will need reading glasses for reading small print (computers, newspapers, etc) all depending on the light level.. at least this is what i found..
all in all i would take that result over needing to use glasses all the time..
colors are back and brighter, daily life is much better, driving is wonderful and as to the reading glasses, they can be, sometimes, optional.. for instance, typing this i CAN read the lines on my X1 carbon extreme 4k display..

Hi Bill, thanks for chiming in!.
I was offered a choice for my lenses:
1. Lenses with a built-in bi-focal function, eliminating the need for reading glasses, but decreasingly less sharp for distance, or:
2. "Distance vision" lenses, which would require reading glasses.
I chose the latter, since I still mostly drive for a living and at my age, need every bit of vision help I can get!
A lot of my planar and other computer work is done under a low-powered microscope or magnifier anyway, so the reading glasses weren't quite such an insurmountable issue to me as they might have been otherwise.
My only "obstacle" until my next surgery is having to use my contact lens in my left eye so that the world appears somewhat "normal"!
(Correction...TWO obstacles...getting used to the fact that advancing age kind'a sucks!....But then, I guess all the wisdom that those advancing years have provided make up for it
Regards.

Re: For Sale: X220/X230 Nitrocaster Kit with LG LP125WF2 FHD Panel
More O.T.:
After wearing varifocals for over 50 years, I had my cataracts removed in January and February 2020.
I ended up with distance-vision lenses. Fantastic clarity and colour improvements.
And I was already driving again (without glasses) two days after each operation.
To (immediately) help read a book or a computer-screen I went to a "Dollar-store" (such as Deals in Ireland) and bought a pair of reading glasses (or should I say plastics?) for €1.50.
By the time I was ready for getting tested for reading glasses (end of March), Covid-19 prevented that until July!
I have an X230 with nitrocaster's kit soldered in, but it's back to HD-IPS after someone cracked the FHD screen.

Oh wow!! great to hear your surgery was successful!!
What would be the shipping cost to Toronto? I thought about going there, but it's probably gonna cost me more in gas than just getting it shipped to me, lol
